    Morning all

Victory good luck with the results, horrible to wait so long I know, but fingers crossed for you.

I read with interest your comments on your mum, honestly it is like reading about my own mother and yes 15 years ago I blocked her, couldn't stand the aggravation any more.

Saw her recently as she had broke her hip and guess what she hasn't changed one little bit.

I have just come to the conclusion that some people are just made that way and all the snidey comments she makes to my sisters about me are just not worth losing a minutes sleep over.

You have enough to be concentrating on at the moment and I am sure people who love you unconditionally so try to focus on that ;)

Having said all of that, can anyone tell me if roast parsnips are free or not please???

Sorry for the lecture (again) I really must start taking the tablets !!!!!

    Hi Retired Lady,

I don't know how you manage to do the Red days, I tried at the weekend and got totally confused.

I manage much better on the Green and funilly enough I would say about 3/4 of the people at the SW do Green and all seem to lose weight, About the melon all varietis except watermelon are superspeedy so what is she talking about - very strange

Oh KPC, I'm over the moon for you too! :T Your determination and little tweaks are paying off, well done!

Marion, sorry to hear about the gain but you know why and how to fix it. Your consultant sounds very strange and dare I say it, on a bit of a power ride! My personal opinion is that being told not to have something is silly - are you never to eat these things ever again?! Teeling yourself a food is 'banned' only gives it lots of power. Did she explain why you shouldn't have them? Sorry, things like that get my goat!

Right, well as this month ends tomorrow, I'll post my restarting weight Grannynice and then post my results next week. I am going to join this gym and will play catch-up to earn the extra I'll be spending. I popped down just after work this morning, just to ask something, and it's so close it doesn't make sense not to join. I'm going to be the equivalent of £50/mth as well as getting some extras, and they also have a loyalty card so each time I go it counts towards a reward. Hopefully that'll give me incentive to go loads, even if it's just to use the sauna etc (good for my illness allegedly) :T

Good luck to Mr BB, do let us know hoe he goes BB.

  • Sad to report a 2.5 pound weight gain this week. If I am honest with myself I did not really stick that well to plan this week and [strike]took[/strike] drank a few liberties:rolleyes: . You would think I would have learned my now that I can not get away with it!

I have been all red days for the last 3 weeks and have been getting bored. I think I will have a few green days and get that carb hit I have been craving for. Problem is my consultant at SW is not a fan of green days and if anyone put on she always says to them - I bet you have been on green havn't you?! She also says you shouldn't have banana's and watermelon either as they stop your weight loss! When I pointed out that they are free foods she actually said - and I quote "Well you can follow the book and not lose weight or listen to me and lose it - the choice is yours!"

So have not had green day or bananas and limited all my fruit and muller lites etc, but now I am getting bored with the whole thing! Oh well - I can but try!

Well done to all of you who have lost, and commiserations to those of us who didn't do so well this week.:o

    Love
    Marion

    Hi Marion,

I also do SW and to be honest I don't know where your consultant is coming from. I do mostly green days and have managed to loss 1st 3lbs since January. Our consultant tells us you're not allowed to do continuous red, you have to have one green a week, is this the same for everyone? She also says that too much fruit wouldn't cause you to gain but it can slow down your weight loss. She encourages us to stick to the "bulk" foods i.e lots of pasta (which, luckily, I love:T ) or of course meat on red days.

If I'm having a tough week I find it sometimes helps to read through the magazine or some recipe books for inspiration.

Don't give up and good luck this week!
Thanks to all who post competitions!!

  • marion, your consulatant sounds a bit of a nutter - i bet our consultant31 would have had something to say about her!

Ness, roasted parsnips are free on green only, and have a syn value on red ( assuming you have roasted them with frylight and not large amounts of honey of course).

Victory. Sending big positive vibes for you and asking the angels to look after you

Thank you it is very kind, I SURE need the angels;)

ness My mother is too old to change, 82 but if there was anything you would want your mother to do would be to ask about it rather than ranting on about the past at a time like this!! Not even picked the phone up to me and she gets free calls:D she has been blockedxx

All this has opened my eyes to OH feelings, I caught him last night watching corries looking very sad/pensative/far away, everyone is telling me things and talking to me but my OH is going through it alone apart from talking to me as no one has asked him how he is etc etc, very eye opening.

marion sorry to hear of your gain, next week will be better.

Anyway lets have some silliness/challenge.... been reading about food swaps like they do on many a programme and many a book (cook yourself thin,x-weighted, fat doctors etc etc) H was considering less calories per day, so I was telling him about the 250 calories you should aim for lunch and he said no way is there any shop bought pre packed sandwich lunch etc coming in at that, oh yes I said 'subway for one which I eat the turkey deal of the day, some boots sandwiches, so anyway what is the most you can get out of 250 cals?

Sugar free jelly is 8 cals, a banana is 85, an apple 85, so you can have all of that, snack a jacks 50 cals, rice cakes 28 cals each, an open sandwich(one slice of nimble) 49 cals, a slice of turkey WW 30 cals, toms next to nothing, grilled mushrooms, I am sure there is loads you can eat for 250 cals....
    Anyway

Maintainers - I'm putting my stern teacher voice on so watch out ;) - first of all, you have done a fantastically amazing thing to lose your weight and reach 'goal'. :T I understand that we all have a 'number' in our heads that we aim for and that you have (and we will) reached/reach this. However, as you all know only too well, it is completely unrealistic to stay at the exact same weight forever. That's why you have a maintaining range, so you can enjoy life and still not put all the weight back on. I don't believe there should be any embarrassment or shame in putting on or losing within that range - in fact, for those of us yet to get there, it provides a positive role model, showing that a little fluctuation is to be expected and is entirely normal. ...

...Thanks for that Miss Bossy Boots :rotfl: What you say is perfectly true :T and it's nice to see that our achievements do give some inspiration to those of you still to get there. I was quite touched to see Suzy's post too>

.....this weight loss thing is a bit of a struggle but it's nice to know we're in it together, plus the people who have reached their targets are a great incentive....

...So I shall resume posting my weight in my sig as I did before and be proud to show any +/- each week on the chart. I have plenty of leeway to spare, but I'm trying not to go much (if any) lower.

Believe me, successfully losing my weight last year with the help of this thread has had a huge benefical effect on me, and I hope all of you get the chance to experience it too :j :j ...

...Good to see that you're getting back into it to Bails :j ...

...Marion Sorry about your water gain ;) but seeing what others are posting here she sounds a law unto herself! What do your other group members think? I think that using a wide variety of foods helps weight loss, anyway better luck for next week :D ...
