I think it was Martin presenting a news article about the pain of morgage borrowers who took out fixed morgages two years ago and are now seeing their rates jump up to the variable rate. It was an informative clip but managed to give the impression that all fixed rate deals last two years.
Wasn't me, not sure who you got me confused with!Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I can't see that anyone has mentioned about Martin being a panelist all this week on The Wright Stuff (Channel 5 10.00 a.m.).
I'm pretty sure this IS the real Martin - or else someone has nicked his shirt.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

This has absolutley nothing to do with your appearances, I have searched high and low on your sight to find somewhere to say a big thank you for all the advice that you given and I have used, to my advantage. The latest of which is the travel insurance that I have just taken out for my son who suffers from Stenosis Aorta My usual travel insurance company Preferential quoted £62.00. Your recommendation Medicover £10.50imported_admin wrote: »This Board is here to discuss any of my appearances on TV or radio (im being brave). Thanks for highlighting this scandal on Radio 2 today.
I'm finding it almost unbelievable to think that only 10% percent of premiums are ever paid out again in claims:mad:. Would you expect venerable old institutions to behave like cigarette salesmen:rolleyes:
But if it is not PPI, then it will be something else, please carry on the campaign to get people to realise that "organisations work for their advantage, not yours".
I say organisations because the staff of all organisations develop a life of their own, and lose sight of their real responsibilities.
Keep up the good work.

Have just watched your Tonight Offering on fetive fayre (7th Dec 2007 ITV @8pm). Found it interesting but you forgot to mention one thing, which is also missing from your Supermarket challenge, i.e. how do people who already buy the cheapest version of products from supermarkets save further money. Any suggestions? That is apart from:
BMGMF - 'Buy many get many free' when it is an item you need & use a lot
Discounted food - close to sell by/Use buy date
Bashed Cans in bargain area
Discounted supermarkets, e.g. Home Bargains
Market Stalls - irregular or mis-shaped cake products, vegetables & fruit
I will be glad to hear of further suggestions.
Having looked at the items you showed for the decoration of the party it would be great to hear where the 20p cards, i.e. the 20 for £2.00 were purchased they were really nice. However I cant believe that anyone whould spend £300 on a christmas tree. Are people really that mental. Even the cheaper version, £174 is in my view about 5 times more than is necessary. Don't call me Scrooge but why did you start with such a high budget, rather something that is more normal?
Other than that I can't believe that I am the only person who disregards the use by dates on perishable goods. What did people do before these things were forced on us? We used our noses and gumption. It is no wonder that so much food is thrown out - e.g. some products are limited not by their effective freshness/ability to be eaten but by the packaging that it is sold in. For example hard cheese may have a long use by date offering 6 - 9 months. However if it was sold in its entirety would ot be longer? Surely most people expect cheese to go mouldy on the outside. Why not just cut the bad bit off and eat the rest.Veteran Bargain Hunter -

Have to agree with you Somerled, think anyone who'd spend 300 quid on a tree is nuts. Again 170 quid is an awful lot of money too. Good proggie though I and my family did enjoy it Martin so well done.xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

£170 is certainly a lot of money; one of the reasons I added "they've expensive tastes" in the script.
Though the £170 was for a tree from scratch a huge range of decorations, presents, gift wrap, lights, trees - for the sake of the experiment we bought a LOT more than you'd normally do. I mentioned this in the programme and I must admit was slightly worried we'd get some comments along those lines as its tough to go through the whole details.

Don't know how much I've spent on my tree/decorations over the years. I decided to stick with 'gold/cream' about 12 years ago. First tree was 4' with only a few baubles. Bought more baubles for a couple of years and then the next year got a bigger tree plus another set of lights. That's been repeated a couple of times until I've finished up with a 7' tree, four sets of clear flashing lights and loads of gold/cream decorations. BUT most of those have come from Wilkinsons (pretty but cheap) and get put away very carefully each year - still got all those original ones from 12 years ago. This year I've spent £3.00 on some new ones that I just couldn't reisist but were needed as the tree is now in a bay window and not in a corner (where it only needed decs on the front and sides!). (Incidentally the 4', 5' and 6' trees were all given to charity shops as they were in very good condition and always put back in their original boxes)
But once again, Martin, thanks for a great programme - let's hope more and more people heed your message. Only thing I would like to add is that maybe the programme should have been shown a few weeks ago - as many people have been preparing for christmas for quite a while now and are already down the path of committing themselves to overspending.
One year, I may give myself a challenge and do a total 'smartprice/own brand' christmas shop and see how well I can disguise things with presentation!0
