  • what does everyone else do..... (or what good ideas do you have for me not eating it all....?)

Angie - I've followed the tip to freeze in portion sizes. It is a problem when you love baking but find it too tempting. I had a fight with a loaf of bara brith until I got the tip about HM bread on here, slice and freeze and just get out what you need.

It was one of my favourite tips I picked up and I use it with everything now. Means I always have something to whizz out for unexpected visitors and it really impresses. :D

Could you freeze chocoate cornflake cakes? Imagining not, great shame.

Well you see I would join in more but I'm far too worried about accidentally getting the top spot, and being unceremoniously booted off the thread by a certain green amphibian...;)

Yeah but still join in coz it's fun if that happens - she's more likely to sulk than boot you off here ;):D

Where is that certain green amphibian????

    Pigpen,

How about adding chopped onion, carrots, lentils and pearl barley/broth mix -cooking until soft and blitzing -you can always add a stock cube if its a little bland:confused: .... I do similar for hubby as it has loads of fibre and protein plus its really warming and pearl barley is good for your kidneys :D

I bet frogga is at work Newlywed... and i think everyone is tippy toeing around trying to stick to the guidelines-but you are right its just not the same  ... it was such a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere before...

Mamof4.... join in - you know you want to :p -the more the merrier :T

Gingham Ribbon.... oooh make cornflake cakes too mmmmm, sorry that isn't what you wanted to hear was it :p but they are lovely

Angie loves veg... I have no excuse to make cakes and stuff very often.. its just me n hubby and he doesn't have much of a sweet tooth -typical !! So its rare for me to make that kind of stuff -which is a plus point at the moment.... no kiddies wanting "snicky snacky snoos" -mind my main reason for losing weight it to increase our chances of having a family... so i will probably get to target, get pregnant, blow up to the size of a house and then have to contend with "goodies" :rotfl:

Cheerfulness- its a shocker when you realise that portions are supposed to be THAT size isn't it :rotfl: . Mind now i stuggle to eat 2 weetabix and so generally have just 1 -i used to be able to eat 12 crumpets  ooohh the shame :o . Still it is saving us a fortune on groceries... we used to eat a tray of speciality sausages between 2 now i make my own and hubby has 2 and i have either 1 or 2 and they are only thin ones..but its enough -then again i don't put any stabilisers, rusk or fillers in mine..just meat and seasonings :T

    Anyway i will get off

Hope "normal" service resumes later -well as "normal" as we ever were:D

Hellllooo jjeff and welcom on board :j

Cheers re soup ideas.. MrsM .. I LOVE pearl barley.. :D

Right.. 45 minutes exercise DVD has almost killed me.. so I'm off for a shower then jogging off to get Tiddles from nursery.

So.. if I sling in an onion or 2.. a couple of grated carrots.. chillies can't pick it out then.. a couple of spuds and a handful of broth mix.. it should be ok?? I'll tell it you lot said it would be!

And if it isn't.. I'll be back!!

  • Morning everyone

Well, I made my houmous salad this morning (sadly not HM houmous - had a pot left in the freezer from Christmas which I'm using up), and have brought lots of healthy snacks - so fingers crossed for today - I'll update later!

    mamof4 - hello:hello:

    almo - hello:hello:

furrypig - good luck for the weigh in

juliejim - work is a COMPLETE nightmare for snacks  when everyone else is eating rubbish - and providing rubbish too

beemuzed - great weight loss there, well done - if the tuna is too dry, what about mixing yogurt or cottage cheese with it for some moisture?:T

iamstacie - welcome - I've just joined too! Your porridge sounds lovely with cinnamon and raisins, I'll try that soon

pink-winged - as a user of the Flylady thread myself, I can't see much difference between that thread and this one

pigpen and frogga - hmmmmmmmmm, crisps......:o

kittyscarlet - thank you SO much for your brilliant list of snacks :T

taplady - well done on your 1 1/2 lbs weight loss :T

pigpen - soups - if yours are bland, herbs and spices are probably the key, as well as garlic, leeks and onion - and potatoes are great for making a creamy soup without the cream. What sort of things do you like - I can post some recipes? I'm afraid I don't like pork, though, so I can't help you with the immediate problem.

mrsmcawber - cobs for 2p - bargain - I've got a breadmaker, but usually only make loaves - I'm going to investigate the book that came with it to see what else I can make!

orpheus - slapping costs extra ;)

mrsmcawber and cheerfulness4 - I have made recipes for 4 for years when there are only two adults and one child. Time for a reassesment, methinks... :o

Have a good day, all - will post back later tonight as I've used up one of my allocated two! :D

  • Hi All,

It's a beautiful sunny day here which means no problem in getting some exercise as it's so lovely to walk along the beach admiring the view. Walking on sand is really good for calf muscles too.

I have been persevering with the black coffees but still am not enjoying them. I bought some fruit teas yesterday to try but although they smelt gorgeous I hated the taste so that is no good.

Breakfast: Muesli/fruit and fibre with raisins and skimmed milk. Banana.

Lunch: Crackers with a smearing of spread, Camembert and tomatoes. Orange.

Tea: Egg, chips (only a small portion) and mushrooms.

Drinks: Black coffee and a few tiny skimmed milk coffees when I can't face a black one.

    Snack: Orange.

I lurked on this thread for months before I joined in and gained loads for it. In fact I've been reading MSE for over 3 years but this thread is the first I've posted on.

Hi Folks - especially all the diehard-determined-dieting-damsels - and for saversarn - Yo! Sex Goddess (that's the first and only time -:rotfl: but I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did:eek: )
Lol:rotfl: :rotfl: Thanks Orph, my life is now complete! I've always wanted to be greeted that way even if only once :D

I am being weighed tonight, had a good week until last night- my daughter bought some uncooked pastries at a posh garden centre and decided to cook more than she could eat! So after a long day at work and a swim on the way home, I was then trying to make a healthy dinner with a cooling warm unwanted maple and pecan staring at me:eek: The first mouthful was great after that oh the guilt:o . I mean what is a girl to do:confused:

I keep this thread on my favourites at work and flick on and off all day, so although I may only post a couple of times a day I clock up hundreds of views.

Loving the support and ideas from all you guys!

MrsM- can you post the link to the cross stitch kit site, I've lost it and am going to give it a go to keep me away from the fridge;)
Mumof4- or even 5... Hi and do post xx
  • Encouraged by pigpen, Juliejim, lil_me, the Dragon and co from the FlyLady thread, please can I join the Valentine's challenge? I've been to WW 3 times now and managed to lose weight each time but guess what, my weight's crept back up but am still £££££££s lighter.

This time I'd like to try and be more sensible and long-term about it. I've just weighed in at 12st 7, which for a 5ft woman is way too much and my JJ boobs are a pain in the back as well as neck. Plus I'd like to get married in September but no way at mo cause I don't want to be all boobs and stomach in the pictures.

I'll weigh myself on a Tuesday (to fit in with the Lose Weight thread on I wanna) - feel free to b*ll*ck if I'm bad
