Someone tell me, when is it reasonable time to make noise (DIY)

I finally got some help yesterday evening for someone to hold the ladder while I drill 1 poxy little hole to put though a cable - this was about 19:40 (had no other choice)
All it took was about 10 seconds and I had the neighbour jumping out of their back boor f'ing and blinding at me and brother! Moaning that she has baby alseep etc... so what am I suppse to do? I can't do it during the day beacuse of her baby. I can't do it during the weekend cause of her baby - I am getting sick of being quite all of the time -
I got to do some hammering later (putting cable stay's on) so this would be interesting

That's probably too late mid-week..
During the day, they have no right to complain, anything from 10am - 6pm should be fine. I've had arguments with my neighbours before about me using an electric saw in the garden. haha, they went mental.0 -

You see there is nothing set in stone, I know about the law of 7am to 11pm etc... I do not play loud music or anything as I wear headphones when listing to the TV etc..
Also I have had 2 letters from the local EHO dept ref my birds (chooks) clucking loudly! - I get rid of one to "please" the EHO, but they still at it (her and B/F) it doesn't seem to have a end,
I am looking to invest some ££ in the house with a new wood burner and solar water heating unit (tubes to heat water) which I know I do not need planning for (just building control informed etc of what I am going to do) - yet I know that I will need to make a noise, even the slighest hammer to the nail in my own back garden will result in her f'ing at us in the back garden I have compained to her LandLord (was the same as mine until I brought out the house 100% from the LL) nothing to seems to please her and her t**t of a boyfriend (tbh is 5 slices short of a loaf - my familys thoughts that is)0 -
I would think up to about 9pm is reasonable, as long as it isn't day in day out. During the day she can't complain at all. If you had workmen in to do a job they would just get on with it!
Maybe to ease the situation, you could try to talk to her, (or even drop a note through the door) and tell her what you are doing and when you propose to do it. At least this way she can be prepared. Maybe she'd had a bad day!0 -
Kids go to bed early, it's not fair to make loud banging noise when they are in bed.
Have you considered asking your neighbour when they think it would be ok? Ask them when the kids are put to bed.0 -

Thank you ref the post about 9pm, beacuse I seem to thing that is also a reasonable time as well. yet I did this at 19:40 !!!!!! - the only chance I had until brother came home to help out
I tried that way with the letter in the door - oh the backlash I got from it, so next time i won't even bother letting them know what work I going to do over the coming 6 months... I don't understand why I or my brother and his guest should have to suffer to meet her needs that a baby is in bed - my life carries on0 -
I too think up to about 9 pm is reasonable. You have a right to do work to your own house.
Your life doesn't have to stand still just because she has a baby!
When you have the solar power work done, just inform her when it is going to be done and leave it at that.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Sorry, pushed the wrong button... lol
The thing is, I don't talk to "them" I can't stand her or him - first time last night that I heard that she has a baby in the house... so how am I suppose to know? :mad:0 -
I glad I got that of my chest lol - I feel better now0

Does you good to have a rant now and then.0 -
haha, i've clicked thanks by accident before. You can't take it back you know!
I don't like my neighbours. They're chavvy, they leave rubbish in bags outside their front door, they neglect their front and back garden. They've failed to repair their fence in a year since it was blown over. They are rude, loud and i despise them.
However, next time I have a DIY project, i will knock on their door, tell them i'm planning to do it and ask if there's any times they would like me restrict my noise making to. If they tell me 'no time is good', i will ignore them and just do it when I like. At least i made the effort.0
