Thank you for explaining Dopestar but it did seem you were judging when you did not know everything, especially saying things for us were 'rosy' and that I moaned too much about things. Yeah, I am laughing about that now. But wanted to respond so you knew, I do think my life is OK, I have no probems going into a hostel - I've said it before, beggars cannot be choosers, but this was about the council tellingmy MP that a hostel was not suitable for m son yet offering us no help to keep us from that situation. Don't you think that is a bit backwards??

Apology accepted but.... buying land? I don't have money to buy land!! It costs around £100k for a piece of land now - if it has planning permission (which we would need for a caravan) you can times that figure by 4 at least!!

That woman who had her daughter murdered was on benefits and she bought land ??!! As well as going on a 6 month 'holiday' in Goa!!?? I think Iam in the wrong system!! Mind you, I have just read that newspaper article and she is 'sending the children home for saftey' while, it seems she stays on and her other son was hit by a car and she never returned to him. It seems her kids are a minor inconvenience. Reminds me of Patsy in Ab Fab!!

I could not afford to buy land, 36k is a lot of debt as far as we are concnered and it stops us being able to rent privately and for parking the caravan we would be staying on a local farm that charges £10 a night.

I have only lurked here, because I didn't have anything constructive to say.

I would just like to say that I think Blue Monkey is an absolute hero, and I could never do what she has done or cope with what she copes with day in day out.

You rant and rave and ignore paragraphs as much as you need to, blue monkey, as this seems to be the only place where you can safely let off steam.

Wishing you all the luck in the world.
    Always another chapter

Yes, there are millions of people worse off, but why should Blue Monkey give a monkeys :rotfl: about them?? Knowing that there are people in worse situations does not make her circumstances any better, does it? It's every man (or monkey) for himself!

You're right katie, every monkey for herself, and don't give a monkey about other people's views!

I don't however think there are millions of people worse off and this is where I took particular issue with dopester's post. I know people in terribly dire situations but I still think that BM's is one of the worst, and I'm glad she challenged dopester as I think his/her initial post was out of order. In BM's case the whole combination of factors of husband losing the better pay due to injury coupled with Ryan's issues and having to stay home plus the mother from hell are something of a "Perfect Storm" that have led to/exacerbated her debt/housing position. A lot of people fight with one or several of these issues but I don't know many that have to fight against all of them.

And dopester £36k debt is relative. When I was in a very well paid job I wouldn't have blinked an eyelid at it. But now it would make me want to go curl up in a broom cupboard and shut out the world for a month or two (or longer), so I can understand why it stresses BM out.

I can't begin to walk a mile in BM's shoes, or imagine what it is like. But I do know one thing. I'd want a different pair of shoes. Good luck BM, and just keep thinking positive thoughts. We're all hoping you get that house soon so you can start the rest of your life afresh.

    Hi Blue,

Haven't been on line for 3 days but have been thinking about you... Have resurrected MummyHol's post because the same thing happened to my aunt. Was told she couldn't approach the housing associations directly, but did anyway and also got housed. And guess what - she's in Hertfordshire too. Do you see a pattern developing here?

I find your example of the 'wealthy family' ludicrous - who else on here has forgotten about that convenient lump of land they own? - and injudicious, given the complaints of nearby residents and the implied tone of acceptance of cutting the law fine.

BlueMonkey- you can bet your life that for every 1 person who will judge you, compare you or try to bring you down; there are 1000 of us who would rush to your side when you need us. Thankfully, the opinions of dopester are the complete opposit of the views of the majority of the people following your thread.

Since reading this thread for the 1st time, i've been overwhelmed with admiration for the way you have and continue to handle your circumstances.

(there are always people worse off than us, but that doesn't mean we have to accept the hand we're dealt)

Hugs for you BM and for every1 who has shown BM support on this thead xx

Hugs to you all for making me glad to have found you, for aking me smile and for those of you who make me cry when days are getting the better of me at the moment (damn you!! LOL!!). I am really pleased for the support you have all shown me, i know I should not have let it get to me earlier but you always end having to defnd yourself, don't you.

I called the lady about my other cat tonight and she is going next week. She has said we can go up any time to see her which will be nice, I am sure the kids will love the farm too, but I have opted for a time to go when the kids will be at school as they will not notice the cat gone, but will freak if I take her when they are with me. It is the best way, but I will do as before and explain to the children.

Can I ask you all a favour. If you can think of anything thing we need to ask when we go for this meeting with the council on Thursday can you please put it down here. I am going armed with questions, questions, questions.

Oh and I will have Ryan & DD with me.... maybe then they will see how he is being cooped up in one room for 10 minutes. It is not intentional, we have to take DD out of school early that day as she is coming with us too because the appointment is at 2.30 so I can't get back to get her from school in time.
