    If you ask I think you would be suprised what your butcher can get if you order it. I know mine can/will get things if I order it.

    Hare and rabbit I can't stand, neither taste or the smell when it's cooking, could get plenty very cheap, just can't touch it.
    One day I might be more organised...........:confused:

    :rotfl: mine does! Although he apologised that the hares are from France... I prefer only UK meat (to help the farmers)

    I've heard venison tastes quite gamey but I've never had it myself so don't take my word for it!

    A friend of my parents' is a trained butcher (although it's not his job) and makes venison burgers and sausages from roadkill. He lives out in the country so all the local folks take the roadkill deer to him and he makes them all nice good quality food from them.

    I'd be sorted for venison off him, but I don't eat red meat! :confused:

    i know this might sound silly.. but what british veg is in season in february......

    My local veg supplier has

    brussels sprouts (and sprout tops - lovely!)
    carrots
    cauliflower
    kale
    leeks
    onions
    parsnips
    potatoes (maincrop)
    spring greens
    swede
  • Does anyone know any lists or websites that tell you whats in season and when?
