wow! this is getting heated & waaay off-topic
although if more parents stopped their kids running around shouting, screaming & being a general nuisance in pubs, there'd be no need to impose restrictions
previous discussion about the 2-drink-rule (rather than the bargain) HERE0 -
I'm sick and tired of people trying to run other peoples lives. What gives anyone the right to say kids should have a limited time in a public house!? If they're bored i'm sure THEY can tell their parents themselves!
The fact they own it gives them that right, the fact it's your money means you can choose not to go there, easy isn't it.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

P.U.B.L.I.C. H.O.U.S.E sorry for the rant.
I see you don't understand the phrase then, originaly it was someone's house that was open to the public to sell booze. You obviously have it confused with C. R. E. C. H. E. or P. L. A. Y. G. R. O.U. N. D.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I really like Wetherspoons as its the only restaurant I can eat in confidence (I have a medical intolerance to wheat, barley and rye) as they clearly label their menu.
Having worked in a pub myself I fully agree with this policy, I've seen both types of family. One family would come in on a Sunday with a young lad who was very sweet and well behaved, they had a meal with a couple of drinks then left. Didn't impact on anyone else and they still got to enjoy their meal.
However, I've also seen parents who stay drinking til they can barely walk with their children running riot-looking under toilet doors, stealing pool table balls, bothering other patrons. The staff end up watching the kids to try and minimise the impact on others or so the kids dont get hurt...and thats not what they are for!
If they banned kids I'd agree it was too much, but this policy seems spot on to me. And no I don't have kids, but I have had experience with them in pubs.Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.0 -
I appologise if you think that I am dissagreeing with the owner of the public house for having a certain policy, because I am not.
I am irritated by the public that overly express their opinion. It's ok to have an opinion but not to force it on others. Everyone has the right to be anywhere, if I don't like you I go somewhere else, i don't try and wine on until you go somewhere else!!0 -

they own it, nobody else, If they decided to allow kids all day thats up to them, if not it's their decision. I'm irritated at people complaining about children in a public house. If they're allowed in nobody has a right to complain. Wrong?0 -

Think yourself luck you don't have to take your shoes off at the door."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

if the management choose to do nothing about it, no problem, I'll take my custom elsewhere
I would venture that Wetherspoons have introduced the 2-drink-rule because they have had numerous complaints and/or are losing customers because of parents buying a cheap meal, sitting drinking all day & letting their kids run riot
which is a real shame for the responsible parents who'd like to linger over their meal with a little aperetif, a drink or two with the food & maybe a liqueur afterwards0
