Thanks for the info Chris, saves us all a lot of time chasing this false discount
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • Hi

Does anyone know if the MASTER offer still works?

I think that I've come across one - but you need to have a bit of patience to try it and it is a bit hit and miss.

Go Via a google search for American Airlines, as it will come up with the additional options showing.
Go to Book Online and fill in your requirements as usual.
Then click on more flight search options.
For your first search, type in your exact route i.e From Manchester, To JFK.

& in the Choose a carrier option, select AA, American Eagle, American Connection.

Click Search, sort the results in the order that you are looking for, select your flights, print out the results.
Then delete your browsing history AND cookies.

    Then repeat the process.
Do everything identically until you get to the carrier option, this time select AA, American Eagle, AmericanConnection® and oneworld
Click Search, sort the results in the order that you are looking for, select your flights, print out the results.
Then delete your browsing history AND cookies.

    Then repeat the process.
Do everything identically until you get to the carrier option, this time select all carriers
Click Search, sort the results in the order that you are looking for, select your flights, print out the results.
Then delete your browsing history AND cookies.

You may well find that amongst your paperwork, you will have 3 different prices, for identical flights.

    Now for part 2.

    Start Over again.
This time fill in your usual flight requirements at Book Online, but you are going to be a bit more vague with your destination.
When you click on Flight Search Options, get your From airport as usual (say, Manchester), but for your To airport, if you have an option, put in the General Area, i.e put in New York rather than JFK.

You may well find that amongst your paperwork, you will have 6 different prices, for identical flights.

When I ran the exercise earlier today (several times). The difference for my trip next May came to just under £100 for 4 passengers -- for the same flights, on the same days, booked on the same AA booking computer (which were considerably cheaper than any of the screen scraper/flight search websites).

Its a bit of a time consuming faff, but IMO, for (potentially) a £100 saving, its worth it
