How do I check this?
It's the fare class and usually can be seen on line when you book
Sometimes you have to click on a link for 'fare details'0 -

That 1000 miles will be a sign up bonus and extra to what you earn from your flights but won't count towards your challenge.
Be aware challenge isn't automatic you have to call AA and register for it.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Don't really worry about the card, it isn't needed for anything. as long as you know your number to type in thats all you need. BTW how do you know your number? Mine was on the mock up card that appeared when I joined.
My number comes up automatically on the website every time I log in, it is in a box at the top and then I have to put in my password underneath. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0 -

When I just spoke to them about the Platinum challenge, they told me that although I will be travelling over 10,000 miles, I am only earning half a point with my deal  . No way will I be going that distance within 3 months, however he did say I was eligible for the Gold challenge! :j No idea what that means at this stage but it's better than nowt I suppose!!There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0 -

Have a look at the fare basis for your tickets. There should be a Booking Code column on your e-ticket.
Look at my previous posts (#150) about the benefits of Platinum and Gold.0 -
You probably have N class tickets-Gold earns 25% in mileage from your qualifying flight(likely just your flight home) -versus Plat earning 100%-but if you are planning on travelling AA again within a year it may be worth it to you.
Benefits for both Gold and Plat are on the aa website under aadvantage.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Can someone help as I am new to all this and want to make sure I am doing it right. We are thinking of flying to New York for a few days over Easter with our 2 children and would like to fly from stansted. Have tried a few dates and the cheapest I can get is flying out on the 18th March and returning 25th for approx £1100 in total. This would mean taking the kids out of school though (again!) Other option is to fly out Sat 22nd for 4 or 5 nights which is coming up at about £1600. Obviously first flight is better price but 2nd is better dates for us. Have read about holding the flights and getting a discount through mastercard which I would also try. Am I better to book one of these options straightaway, or is it worth holding on a few days to see if the prices come down for the second set of dates. Would really appreciate any advice!something missing0

Hi Jolly Jen
I have just run it through now and got it for £1014 (assuming 2 adults & 2 children), out on the 18th and back on the 25th. Direct both ways on AA125 & AA124.
I would be awful tempted to book it at £253.50 each all inc !
If you want to be hung for a sheep, instead of a lamb !!! the price is the same if you fly out on Monday 17th and only £13 dearer per person if you fly on Sunday 16th. And when returning, its the same fare on Tuesday 25th, Wed 26th, Thurs 27th, and only £13 dearer on Friday 28th or Sat 29th.
Happy hunting. Decisions, desicions :j:j:j0
