Seems to vary how they apply the discount. Mine worked out at around £70 on a £685 inclusive fare.
Important thing is we've all saved money and a few people are going to benefit from the challenges and save even more that way. I'm amazed at how many hits this thread has had.

Well I have saved almost £200 off my flights thanks to you guys, I have also got a cheap hotel at Heathrow through Priceline, which I had never heard off until I saw it on a thread here. I got my dollars on the Thomas Cook offer last year, courtesy of MSE and am slowly getting my itinerary together and booking hotels as cheaply as I can, courtesy of the Las Vegas thread and various recommendations on the other Murphy thread I have read. I am so grateful for all your help. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

good on you MOLLYBRUSH - but remember that it was you who did the hard work :beer:0 -
Vegas has HUGE moneysaving options on hotels. We've saved hundreds of dollars by booking an acceptable hotel that we can cancel and then sitting tight until the deals come out and booking something better -and canceling the original.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Yup, did the same on our last trip. Vegas is sooo cheap for hotels though. Our suite in Mandalay Bay at Christmas was cheaper than a basic room anywhere here in Belfast.... :jUndefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

A couple of tips on calculating the points you will need to qualify for the Gold/Platinum challenges. Go here to calculate the millage you will be doing, just put in the airport codes for each sector.
Then go here to see what each flight code gets you in terms of Q-points per mile. Remember that 10,000 points gets you platinum. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
I can't 'get' this cheap flight thing. I try for hours and only get expensive flights. When is the cheapest time of year to fly, and what is considered a cheap flight? On the AA website do you click the box that says you're in the uk? Do you have to wait right until the last minute to get these bargains? Sorry for all the questions but I must be doing something wrong on the AA website!!!!0

Just a note: this site is not only good for trans-Atlantic flights, but is also famous as a way of buying BA flights within Europe for lower prices than are available elsewhere. I have even seen it offering good deals on BA flights to Hong Kong from London!0
