  • Another question -

My brother has platinum status with AA sooooo, if i were to hold my booking in his account, instead of my own, would we be able to select exit row seats?? It doesn't give me the option in my booking. We are planning on buying upgrades but would like exit row seats just in case, my OH is 6'8 so he has a LOT of difficulty fitting into normal seats.

  • Hey, guess what. I did it!! I am booked in and Panda Pants, this was 5 minutes ago and I did get the Mastercard Discount. Thanks for all the help and encouragement on here from all concerned. Now it's booked don't feel worried any more. Got the California brochure in the post yesterday, looked through it and I just thought we have to do it.

What kind of discount did you get.
Not being nosey, just wondering if they did the "Base Fare" trick
  • It says in the Terms and Conditions that Blindman very kindly sent me that the offer is valid until December this year and they do not reserve the right to withdraw it at any time.

I can forward it if anyone is interested....

Not a huge amount. In the spirit of this thread I firstly knocked a hundred off by coming back on the Thursday and not the Saturday, which also has the benefit of kids getting over the jet lag before going straight back to school. That knocked it down to £1201 and after the discount I think it was £1117. Not had the e-mail through yet but can confirm when it does.

  • It was originally £1301, then £1201 by coming back on Thursday, then with the discount it was something like £1115, so £85 discount using the Mastercard. Is this what you mean?

Seems to vary how they apply the discount. Mine worked out at around £70 on a £685 inclusive fare.
Important thing is we've all saved money and a few people are going to benefit from the challenges and save even more that way. I'm amazed at how many hits this thread has had.
