    hi

do i have to connect my laptop to the router or can it be done wireless (not 100% sure where the cable is)

It's not impossible to set-up encryption over the wireless link but as soon as you enter the new key, you will lose the connection until the same key has been entered into the laptop. Personally I would rather do this using an Ethernet cable.

also do i have to do this for each laptop connected to the router

Once the new WPA encryption has been set-up on the router, the new WPA key will then need to entered into any PC that you want to connect. It sounds harder to explain how to do it than it is to actually do.

Section 3.4 of the User Manual here, states that there are three levels of WiFi security:
Encrypt the data that will be sent over the wireless network. You can choose different encryption methods or levels of security:

High: Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK) encryption, the highest form of security available, but can only be used if your wireless client and client manager support it

    Medium: Wired-Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption

    Low: no encryption, no security

If you can't get to the wireless settings page from the menu when you log into the router. (can't see the options displayed in the manual) when you run the set-up wizard, you have to choose the level of WiFi security on a slider, shown on page 15 of the manual.
