Just been and done a "big shop" at tesco.
It didnt look to bad in the trolley but when I put it on the checkout it was just a great expanse of red, white and blue Value products!!! The only thing I think i had that wasnt Value was milk but that was still white and blue anyway!! :rotfl:
I may as well have been carrying a big sign saying "on a tight budget"!!
Oh well needs must I suppose - it will be worth it in the end....now excuse me while I make myself a delicious value brew!!!

Exactly, be proud. You're not being suckered in to providing them with any more profits than you need to and with some products they are subsidising you. One of my favourite books is 'the Tightwad Gazette' compilation which teaches you how to live a lot on a little. It's American but very applicable to UK readers and I have to say reading it always validates for my why money saving is the way to go. The author is really funny too. If you get a chance to read it you should have a nosey, she'll make you feel positively frivolous for buying own-brand products lol.
Hope you enjoyed the brew.

I have been laughing to myself ever since. I can remember laughing at those Jane Horrocks/Prunella Scales adverts a few years back with my sister cos they bought everything Value - all I was missing was the annoying mother and I would have recreated it!!!0

I know what you mean, I was'nt embarrassed enough when the delivery driver bought mine, let alone in the store. But we're the ones that will be laughing in the end as they put their weekly shop onto their credit card xxx0

Buy some value flour and sugar. use up some old fruit and make a crumble. You wouldn't know it was value, i made one yesterday with an old bag of frozen summer fruits and a manky apple. It was gorgeous! (goes off to nibble lefts overs)unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

Hi,
they are packaged that way on purpose to make them look cheap so that you will buy the more expensive ones thinking that they are better quality. ignore their games!

Wear the moneysaving badge with pride! I saw someone pay about £70 for 14 ready meals and smoothies in the supermarket the other day. I nearly shook her, "YOU CRAZY DAFT FOOL - I COULD MAKE YOU PASTA BAKE FOR DINNER, GIVE YOU SANDWICHES AND SOME RICE PUDDING FOR DESSERT FOR A WHOLE WEEK FOR UNDER A TENNER".
Argh!!! Even thinking about the nonchalent way she handed over £70 for high salt, pre-packaged rot brings me out in a panic. Eugh.
My basket usually has own brand soup, noodles, rice pudding, bread, wholemeal pasta, tatties (potatoes to non-scottish people!), porridge, own brand cereal...........and I get change from a tenner! I'm proud as punch walking out with 2 bags of shopping and change.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
