When I spoke to Chelsea head office yesterday they said it had to be in by Monday the 14th of Jan.0

sorry forgot it isnt an online account so I assume it will be passbook in post
anyone else applied by post and heard anything yet?
It was me who rung them and got the date of 14th jan but i think the poster who mentioned the 18th of jan was talking about the 2 year bond not the one year bond
so it seems there are 2 closing dates
ie 14/1 one year bond
18/1 2 year bond
hope this helpsI found my eutopia tee hee I live in canada yeehaa!0 -

My parents got a passbook from Chelsea today for the 1 year account.
On Tuesday, they got a set of application forms and then received another set on Wednesday - the pack received on Wednesday, included the fact they had to return the forms by the 14th to qualify

The 6.65% fixed rate will be honoured until 18th Jan when all applications have to be in by, so some leeway for posting
Thanks,
Please, could someone email the pdf to me as well? I didnt think to download it ahead of money being a/v and the funds transferred from Coventry have only landed in my current account today. Many thanks.0 -

to avoid any confusions.. "6.65% rate" was a fix chelsea introduced in november, matures during september 2009 and was withdrawn last friday.
1 year fix launched last saturday maturing during march 2009 was 6.90%
2 year fix launched last saturday maturing during march 2010 was 6.60%
is above two fixes that was withdrawn at close of business on monday, of which chelsea are allowing time as has been stated to get applications to them.0 -

Now I've received my 'Bond' (in the form of a passbook) and accompanying letter, it's strange that apart from the correct title: "1 Year Fixed Rate Savings Account 4th-Ann" there is no other confirmation of either fixed rate itself or the maturity date (which I think is 24 March 2007) Oh well, I shall just write these in the book for myself........under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

No they never put that info in the book, It is annoying, I normally write the info on a 'post-it' note and stick it inside the cover.0 -
I am not happy.
Having sent in a application on Tuesday 8th I have received my cheque back today stating it was too late to process, which frankly I find very unlikely.
I now have the wife going to Leeds today to open a 7% deposit, so in some way things have turned out ok, but I have found Chelsea very poor with their admin.Nothing to see here :beer:0 -

My parents successfully opened accounts and so my dad decided to top his up and my brother decided to open one as well...
Chelsea sent both cheques back (received back today) - even though the letter we got with the application forms stated that applications would be accepted until the 14th even though the issue had closed..
I think my dad/brother are likely to complain.. especially as whoever they spoke to admitted the cheques had arrived before the 14th.. they just refused to believe the society was still processing applications up to then - regardless of their letter to us!
Regards
Sunil
PS: One of the accounts my parents successfully opened actually shows the cheque was deposited on the 15th!0
