Chelsea BS 6.90% 1 year fixed, already closing

http://www.thechelsea.co.uk/html/savings/invest_fixrateops_intro.html

This account became available on Saturday, but according to branch staff when I went in today, is already closing. Today is the last day you can get your money in.
I think it is so stupid - they have a big pile of leaflets and posters in the branch, all of which will be thrown away.
I just got my money in on time, but would have added more if it stayed an active issue for a little longer. They are well within their rights of course, just seems a little daft.

being as abbey national got bombarded with cash re its 7% 1 year fix ( before last base rate decrease) on min 50000 + then demand for chelsea 6.9% ( lasting over 14 months) on 1000+, id imagine would be mega high especially as it was launched in a climate of expectation of further base rate decreases

While i was in Bristol Chelsea branch only one person came into the branch and he was wanting to open the 6.9% fixed.

Perhaps a lot are opening by post thus giving then time to move funds about.

moneyfacts have taken chelsea 6.9% fix off, this verifies your info received. :T ( i also wondered y chelsea printed so many leaflets and product guides being as the product was always going to sell out quick via best buy tables and forums such as this one. )
