is wonderful.
I don't have it to hand, as have lent it to someone,a nd not had it back yet.
But, from what I can remember, lots of finger sized foods, especially with a dip, go down very well.
Home made dips include, hummus, tzatziki, ketchup, satay (if ok for peanuts), cream cheese, plain yoghurt.
Spanish omlette cut into bits, sweetcorn cakes, fish cakes, raw veggies, gently steamed veggies.
Must get that book back!0 -
My 14mth old boy is a complete troffer !! :;
Yesterday for his snack he had:
1 x chopped apple
1 x chopped banana
1 x mini yoghurt
1 x cheese spread sandwich (2 slices of bread)
1/3 of a bag of watsits.
I then sat down with my husband to eat my dinner of HM curry and chips and all i could hear was 'ta mummmy'
so after all of his food he ate:
6 x my chips
4 x daddys chips
at least 4 - 5 spoons full of my curry
i think he's got worms he never stops0 -
Boys have hollow legs. Fact!
Both mine beg for curry for dinner. :eek:0 -

He's gorgeous!!!!0 -
Ahh thanks
He never seems to put on any weight though, he was premature so very small but he is only just wearing 9-12 mth clothes and i have to turn the trousers up twice !0 -
Things I gave my daughter for finger food snacks was
bread sticks
toast, plain or with a little sugar free jam, marmite, cream cheese
pitta bread toasted with some cheese inside
fruit cut into sticks/small wedges
carrot, cucumber,
small florets of brocoli, steamed with a little grated cheese
chunks of cheese or babybell cheeses
When she was around 8 months old she wouldnt let me feed her at all and I had to think of ways to make all her meals like finger food so I would make things like little chicken and apple burgers served with some pasta and sticks of veg so she could eat the lot with her hands
I used and still do the Annabel karmel complete baby and toddler meal planner which is excellent, I have a few of her other books and found them really good too0 -
today my youngest (14 month) who is going through a similar phase has eaten
Brekkie - Bagel with soft cheese (bit messy but she loves it)
Snack: Banana and satsuma
Dinner: ritz crackers on a plate with cheese, cucumber (this is her favourite), cherry tomato, strawberrys
Snack - I am sure the others gave her some of their marshmallows earlier judging by the muck on her face !!
Tea (we all sit down together) - sausage, poached egg (she only has it if the sausage is dipped in the yolk, does not like the white), canned tomatoes, toast - pudding last of the strawberries
we bought her a little knife and fork yesterday so tea is a bit hit and miss (or duck and dive if you dont want to end up covered), but she seems to enjoy this
Another favourite food is my home-made soup, and we have compromised that she can dip her bread in and eat it and I feed her with the spoon..
my daugther also loves pasta with salad, so we make a big pan of pasta, mix with mayo and she can pick with her fingers
hope it helps0 -
MINE HAS HOLLOW LEGS TOO. HE'S 2 NOW SO CAN USE CUTLERY BUT AT THE FINGER FOOD STAGE HE WOULD TRY MOST THINGS WITH HIS FINGERS. FAVOURITES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN EGGS, EGGS AND MORE EGGS! EVEN SCRAMBLED EGGS CAN BE EATEN WITH FINGERS IF THE BABY IS DETERMINED
ooops, he's put caps lock on for me!
you could also try eggy bread, it probably has a proper name but is just beaten egg, soak bread in it then fry the bread in a bit of oil.
tuna mayo sandwiches cut up small were popular at that age. oh and egg mayo 'bad mothers club' member 13
* I have done geography as well *0 -
he also ate casseroles and stews by hand, the chunks had to be quite big.
his favourite snack was rice cakes.
he has his breakfast cereal dry so that's a finger food too.'bad mothers club' member 13

we have this problem now with our 10 month old little boy.
He will eat a full heinz 7 month jar cold if we are out and about but in the house he just will not eat proper meals mashed or blended - wants finger foods.
He usually has rice krispies or cheerios for breakfast (with a tiny bit of milk) and uses his fingers!
Sandwiches or scrambled egg and toast or similar for lunch and then a yoghurt.
We just struggle for 'proper' teas as he has his at 4ish and we rarely eat until he is in bed after 7.0
