Well, after saying DD was doing so well..it's all gone to pot!!!

Whilst she'll still eat her breakfast...she's not eating anything else...even her previous favourite dishes (sweet potato & apple, fruit etc)

Took her to clinic on Wednesday and she's lost 2oz - I know it's not much, but makes me feel like a failure!!

Spoke to the H/V who was supportive, she advised I literally give her what the other children have, even down to fish fingers etc...& take away the food with no fuss if she refuses it....but then to not even give yogurts etc...

Whilst I know this is good advice, I'm upset as now she's not really eating anything!!! At least before I felt better that she was at least having yogurt/fruit etc.

Her milk intake is still low aswell (around 18-20 oz - on a good day!!)

I really don't know what to do.....it's really beginning to worry me!!

oh hon, try not to worry, easy to say i know.
    ((hugs))
will she not eat finger foods?
  • Oh brummbiebabe (BB), they are sent to try us arn't they? I would be concerned too but if the HV isn't overly, it would be sensible to try not to be. IF she sees you uptight, she'll pick up on it.

Jack will average between 16-20z on any given day, he won't have any more so i've given up fretting about it.

I've found these last few days giving him what we are having mashed up seems to be working and that's basically what your HV is saying isn't it? Its hard not to go with the yog/fruit thing cos you know that is something she will eat.

i dont know what i'd do just give her what she wants until she changes or only whats on offer and she if she caves.

    Sorry can't be much help.

Although I have found that if I put Jacks food in a bowl and not the blue pot, its viewed with much less suspicision and he does eat, savoury too.

Saying that it'll probaby be us going to pot next week..........

My daughter is 10 months and on a tea time she has the same as us be it fish fingers, steak or spagetti bolognese! She loves feeding herself but doesn't mind me feeding her aswell - if it's sausage, mash, peas and carrots she'll feed herself the sausage and carrots and I'll feed her the mash and peas mixed together as she's not too keen on peas!

She is a bit cheeky though, if she doesn't like something she swipes it onto the floor or picks it up and chucks it under the table!

She only drinks a maximum of 12oz of milk a day 6oz after breakfast and the same before she goes to bed. She also has water with her lunch and tea. When I saw HV about a month ago she said not to worry about the milk as she was eating well and getting enough from her solids.

They are all so different, try not to worry, she wont starve herself!

She does....when in the mood!! Will eat small bits of toast & the Organix finger foods (but trying not to give these at the moment...don't know whether they fill her up:confused: so she won't eat normal food.)

Funny...this is exactly what we had for dinner tonight - so I tried her with it...she wouldn't even open her mouth to try it!!! Put a few sticks of cooked carrot and a bit of yorkshire pudding on the tray.....she ate a couple of bits (& threw the rest on the floor!!) She moans the WHOLE time she's in the high chair, but I found tonight that if I just ignored her (speaking to other kids, turning away etc..) she sneakily put a few bits of carrot into her mouth:rotfl:

  • Pickle!!!!! She is asserting herself! Its good though, in a frustrating way.

Sometimes Jack won't open up and try anything, just decides he doesn't want it. Its so annoying when he hasn't even tasted it.

    Has she teeth yet?

No - no teeth as yet...the bottom ones are close to coming through (I think) - maybe this could be a factor???

I have a problem - my DD will not be fed, very independant she is now!!
i was wondering if any one can give me some ideas for finger foods that worked for you as we are wearing thin on ideas after sandwiches, toast, veg, cheese, fruit etc.
I know the likely hood of her starving is unlikely but would appriciate some ideas for variety.
    thanks
