Hi eskbanker,
Thank you for your reply. I would have thought that where I was registered to vote would have given me a better result too, but its the opposite. I am registered to vote at my house but that is where I am getting the worse chances of getting accepted! Any ideas why this would be the case?
Technically if I am getting deals that are pre-approved and 95% chance of acceptance at my parents address, should I have the same sort of result if I put my new address in too? Like I said, the credit file does show that I am linked to 2 addresses (presumably because I have bank accounts registered at the parents address and a mortgage set up for my house)
With regards to the address change at the bank, I think I have been lazy because I live literally down the road. I have bought my house 3 years ago but didn't move in there straight away as it was being renovated.... so I have been a property owner for 3 years but lived at the address a little less.
ThanksAmong many other things, the credit rating agencies use electoral roll data to validate where someone lives, so my expectation is that you'd get a better result using the address where you're registered to vote.
Is there any reason why you haven't updated all of your bank details to your current address of three years? Lenders like consistency, so visibly using multiple addresses may hinder your chances of getting credit....Hi im new to here and have a question.
I have checked my experian credit rating and it is 927 (close to excellent). According to the report i am linked to 2 adresses which is correct. One is my parents home and one is mine. Some bank accounts are still registered at my parents address.
When i used the eligibility calculator using my address it comes up with 50-85% chances of getting the card. I have stayed at this address for 3 years.
However when i put my parents address (lived there for about 30 years) it comes up at 95% chances and even pre approved.
If the credit file has both addresses shouldn't the chances of getting the card be exactly the same?

is tesco the only card that doesnt have the silly 60 day limit after account opening for BT promotional deals?
for reference my free barclays experian check gives me a score of 922
my guess is you need 6+ years at an address for 95%, many application forms ask for previous address if less than 6 years.0 -
I recently used the MSE eligibility calculator to find the best BT deal, and was recommended to apply for the Halifax Fee Free 0% BT card, with 90% chance of acceptance,GREAT!
So clicked through the link to apply, but made the big mistake of not reading all the small print, and found out later, after making the opening balance transfer, that I had actually been given the 24 months 0% Deal with a 2.5% BT fee.
Very frustrating!
So am I better off using my 14 day cancellation rights (Can the BT be reveresed and will I get the BT fee back?), and then reapply for the next best deal available, despite the extra search on my credit record? Or should I just st suck it up and learn the lesson not to trust the recommended links on MSE, without reading all the small print in the application process.
Perhaps MSE could put a big, bold warning on the page, to check the small print and make sure you're getting what you think you're applying for.....

Hi,
Hope I'm asking this in the right section
I have a Barclaycard and they have offered me a 0% balance transfer, I'd like to use it for an existing Amex balance.
1. The website says it can't accept my Amex card number, is this just because the form is expecting a 16 digit card number and so the 15 digit Amex number immediately fails ? Is there a way around this, to transfer an Amex balance onto a Barclaycard ?
2. I also have the option (same 0% interest, 1.9% handling charge) to move money off the Barclaycard and into my bank account - I could then move it from my bank and onto Amex. Does anyone know if this method is reported differently to credit reference agencies - ie: does this count as a "cash advance" perhaps, which might be less attractive on my credit file ?
Thank you so much for any help

Hi Guys,
I need to do a 0% transfer from Lloyds to another credit card as my 0% on that one is about to run out. I just need to transfer 2k. I have an account with equifax and credit rating states excellent. I looked on the calculator twice to see which credit card would be best and each time they can back with 0% chance. I'm so confused. I have lived at this address for less than a year but the one before that for 5 years. I did it twice in case I had done something wrong but still nope.
Any ideas?0 -
I am planning to apply about 8 credit card simultaneously one after another in the same day.
As It is mainly intended for stoozing so I am just aiming 0% on BT
I have a good credit history (never have any default or the like) though my Nodle went down to 3 from 4 three months ago. I have bank and/or saving account to almost all of the CC i would like to apply. My mortgage LTV is currently around @24% do not need remortgaging for at least 18 months from now ....
I have listed the credit card I want to apply which I got it from here.
https://www.uswitch.com/credit-cards/ppc/credit-card-balance-transfers/?ref=ppcgoogle~gen~PFG176315&gclid=CMG30ZOVjs4CFYafGwodCPADNQ
I have listed about 8 of them. Though I might be wrong but my though is that by applying simultaneously one after another in the same the day, it will not get detected as is that it will need time for the bank to report it to CRAs so ???
1) Is it a good or bad idea, Would you please comment or ctitisize this plans ???
2) Do the searches are shown automatically and immediately in CRAs or the bank will need to reports it to show in your credit files ???
Any comments and critics will be very much appreciated …0 -

I did exactly this around a month ago with 5 cards and managed to get £30k in credit but I cannot say if it will work for you as I do not know your credit history.0 -

Thanks for reply. I have added this in the original posting

That is very similar to my history. I was surprised that I was accepted for so many cards as my Noddle rating also went down from 4 to 3 but then went up again to 4 just before I applied and has now gone down to 3 and will probably go lower when they realise how much credit I have taken out.
I did it because I did not care about the effect on my credit rating as I knew that I would not have to apply for a mortgage in the future.0 -
I did it yesterday and got accepted for 2 Credit cards and 1 referred. Got rejected for 5 cards, never mind. But Like in your case I do not need remortgaging for at least 18 months from now. Also with my the current LTV of lower than 25%, I am expecting that it will be lower than 20% by the time I will need remortgaging. With this LTV, I believe I will not have much problem with remortgaging.0
