  • HI and thanks for the reply. I paid of all my other cards and debts but stupidly upped my limit etc to use whilst doing so,basically robbing Peter to pay Paul. It's now the only debt I have but just frustrated at wasting money on interest. I have read that they may offer interest free for 4 months if you transfer other debt to this card but as I have none I don't know if I would be eligible? I'm currently paying £350 pm as opposed to the £120 minimum but it's a struggle.
  • Hi This ia my first posting did the eligibility checker and then pressed on the apply button for a card. But the screen only flashed up for a second. Does that mean its been done or do I need to find the bank website and apply there.

    help
  • Hi not sure if I'm in the right place, can someone tell me if I can transfer a dept from a third party's credit card (mother) to a new 0% balance transfer card applied for in my name?
    Thank you

    In most cases.
  • Hi

Long time fan, first time poster.

So I am looking to take advantage of these handsome current 0% interest balance transfer cards to pay off an interest-accruing debt of ~£5k.

However, the debt is with Zopa, and they don't accept payment by credit card.

I have a barclaycard with a credit limit of >£5k, and no balance, which I thought I might be able to leverage somehow.

So, the question is whether it is possible to cash out a credit card to my current account, pay off Zopa, and then balance transfer to a new 0% card??

Thoughts, advice, warnings or encouragement all extremely welcomed.

It would be simpler, and cheaper, if you got a card with a money transfer option.
  • I was offered a 40 months 0% balance transfer credit card by Tesco bank. As a long-term Tesco online shopping customer, I thought it was a special favour. But when I applied online I was refused.

I checked with Experian and the issues were my current bank account overdraft and my credit card debt - both within agreed limits. It seems I would be allowed the card if I cleared my current credit card debt. So if I reduce my credit card balance to zero, I can transfer it to a 0% credit card.

Checking the 0% transfer credit card offers on this site, the best one is Barclays for 37 months with a 95% chance of acceptance. The catch is I could be only allowed 18 months if I applied. I could not risk trying to pay off my debt in 18 months.

If you reduce it to zero there would be no balance to transfer.

This is the most confusing bit in your post, but, IMO, not the only one.
  • Hi im new to here and have a question.

I have checked my experian credit rating and it is 927 (close to excellent). According to the report i am linked to 2 adresses which is correct. One is my parents home and one is mine. Some bank accounts are still registered at my parents address.

When i used the eligibility calculator using my address it comes up with 50-85% chances of getting the card. I have stayed at this address for 3 years.

However when i put my parents address (lived there for about 30 years) it comes up at 95% chances and even pre approved.

If the credit file has both addresses shouldn't the chances of getting the card be exactly the same?

    Thanks

Among many other things, the credit rating agencies use electoral roll data to validate where someone lives, so my expectation is that you'd get a better result using the address where you're registered to vote.

Is there any reason why you haven't updated all of your bank details to your current address of three years? Lenders like consistency, so visibly using multiple addresses may hinder your chances of getting credit....
