I want to transfer £5000 balance. I've had a Tesco card unused for a few years and they've sent me an offer of 0% interest for 17 mths but with a 2.99% fee which is rubbish compared to their new cardholder offer of 0% fee. Any tips or suggestions of how to negotiate a fee match or better offer?

You can't. Only way to get round it is to close your Tesco card and apply for a new one in 6 months time.

Your only other option is to take out an entirely new credit card altogether which has a balance transfer promo offer and hope that you get a high limit.

  • Hi. Please can someone tell me if it is possible to do a balance transfer from a personal loan to a 0% credit card? If so how do I do it?
  • Please can you add into the HSBC "Need to know" bullets:

"Balances can't be transferred from cards issued by other members of the HSBC Group including first direct, M&S Financial Services plc, John Lewis Financial Services Ltd."

Just spent a few minutes starting an application, but will be abandoning it, as I'm looking to transfer off M&S Bank card...

Thanks for the scaremongering post with no valid reason. Perhaps next time before you apply for something, it would be wise to actually read and understand what you are applying for and how the offer works.

I fully read those terms prior to application.

In the terms returned to me via Email after application I can't find any mention of the £35 rebate. They should provide consistent information relating to the specific deal throughout rather than expect you to sign against the general offer. That doesn't mean it isn't being offered but the applicant wouldn't have any proof and I doubt if it's legally acceptable. This is typical of these deals though, most of the companies do it.

If you can't be courteous please don't answer.
  • Just to let everybody know, I got a letter, totally out of the blue, from MBNA for a 36 months 0% balance transfer card.

I am so pleased I got approved

The link in the letter was mbna.co.uk/autumn

  • So, here is a question.

I have 2 credit cards that are both running 0% balance transfer rates and both have outstanding balances on them. Call them A and B

If i transfer card A balance to card B, then the original value on card B to card A will the should i get the 0% rate on both cards?

Yes. B's credit limit has to be big enough.
