I have decluttered one bank account today and opened another. I've washed DH's bedding and given him the new covers to put on. I've also done a small shop which should last us for a few days, and brought back some orange-coloured cardboard boxes for the children's group at church to make tigers. And this evening (while DH is out wargaming) I've decluttered a large portion of ice cream. It had to be done.

I have had a shower. I have been to the social meal at vol job (must remember that the loose ££ in my bag is donations and not mine - i had already put the money away and CBA to go back upstairs, What with being hot and all. Brought tea towels back to wash - they do not need to fester in this heat.

• Ensuite cleaned
• Bedroom surfaces cleared and clothes put away (no more chairdrobe)
• Bathroom S&S
• One load of laundry, washed, dried and folded.
• Deadheading and fallen fruit picking up done.
• Purchased final few bags of bark and spread around the borders at the end.
• Shopping for tea weekend done.
• I'm fairly uptodate with shopping and cleaning so am planning a me-time Saturday. I don't think I've ever gone into the weekend being able to have a guilt-free all about me day.

The clips are out. And they came out so much easier than last month! No dressing required. Healing nicely. Just have to be careful with my neck now I'm not held together by metal strips. Strictly no head banging. So no Quo then. 🤣

I got up at 7 and took my new meds. I've made my bed, attempted nyt puzzles (failed to complete Connections, only managed one line), changed Sassy's seed and water, taken old meds, turned over the calendars, and made a brew.

Sassyday and Saturdailies are on my agenda. Athletics are on TV this afti I'm told. Do a bit. Sit a bit. Sounds like a plan!

Finding it hard when peeps are kind to my face about Giz (that sounds awful doesn’t it 😬) have cried twice today.. they both looked shocked, guess I’m not as tough as I look 🫣

I'm so sorry about Gizmo Madam Mim. It tears me apart when one of our animals dies, so I have every sympathy for you bursting into tears when someone's kind to you about the loss. I couldn't mention Kelpie's name for three months without bursting into tears and the only thing that got me past that was to just get another dog. Belovéd still has a day when the the devil cat's name (Bosun) is enough to choke him up. It is so, so hard when it happens. (((Hugs)))

So glad to hear you're on the mend Round and well done and thank you to the Flylady that organised that.

It's been a week. The madness of April, May and June finally caught up with me and while I can get a huge move on when things are seriously urgent, once the necessary is achieved I just can't get myself up and running again, especially in the weather we've been having. I fell asleep last night watching TV which very seldom happens. Fortunately I woke up feeling quite spritely this morning so I walked the dog at 7.00am and posted an urgent letter I want to reach its destination on Monday morning, emptied the dishwasher, pegged out the load of washing I was too tired to peg out last night, fed the dog and gave the garden birds more water - they're going through it at the moment because there's no fresh water anywhere on the Hoe and they're all still nesting and laying eggs like mad. The most helpful thing I've done is to put things away all week, so the house looks relatively tidy but it does need attention, which it has not been getting.

Today I need to give the extra tomato plants I bought in a clearance sale some very tender loving care because they were all extremely scraggy when I managed 15 plants for £5, gave them some instant serious first aid and very surprisingly they've all survived and are now flowering. They're in the yard which is cool but very bright in this weather and they seem very happy, much to my surprise. I thought I'd be luck if half a dozen made it. The idea is that they're going to be the replacements for when the three I've got that are doing well and starting to fruit do give up the ghost. I can normally keep harvesting tomatoes until at least October if I have enough plants, but I don't usually have replacements like this. I hoping for a long hot summer, but not necessarily as hot as it's been over the past few weeks, and lots and lots of tomatoes. The mint is going gangbusters and the parsley is going to seed so there's a lot of parsley seedhead eating going on here. I like the strength of them.

I need to give the shower room some attention because theatre muso has gone back to London for the weekend, and vacuum because although Belovéd normally does it I've said I'll do it today as he managed to get the replacement battery in the old cordless thingy replaced by the engineer neighbour and that's another job off the endless list ticked. And I've found a good sewing machine repair chap after months of looking who will fix my broken fabby old sewing machine that's been out of action for at least 18 months, so that's huge progress.

it's just me at home until tomorrow so I'm enjoying pottering about. I'll have exclusive access to the tv remote tonight so I'm going to find something to watch that DH wouldn't chose.

I've sorted through the towels and sifted out the worn out and rough ones. The shelves are nice and tidy now.

I've also done my tax return and it seems I might be due a refund but I'll believe that when it's in my bank account.

I'm going to clean the kitchen and bathroom floors after I've finished my cuppa and then go to my dad's for another cuppa.

I agree; I can still cry without too much provocation over my late horse and he's been gone more than 10yrs; he is still on my FB profile pic as I can't decide what to put instead.

I'm vaguely and semi-reluctantly getting the hang of this gardening at 7am mullarky - and feeling very virtuous when I do so. It's helped that our neighbour is having new fencing all down 'our' boundary so we are pruning and tidying - plus until the fence goes up, there are a few large gaps so she and any visitors can see the mess our garden is in!! We've also discovered that the back of our shed, previously inaccessible, has revealed itself to be rotten in several places. Cue much discussion about what we want to replace it with - neighbour has a metal one with the door on the long side which we can see advantages to over our wooden traditional door-on-the-short-side one. Mr N can now worry about technical things like the base - aspects which don't cross my mind. G00gle here we come.

Have also been researching a sideboard to replace ours which, sadly owing to over-watering plants which are not always in saucers, is now delaminating on the top and apparently looking a bit scruffy in general (not the sort of thing I notice). Happily, The R&nge still do the same one and as all our recipe books, slow cooker, breadmaker and 'best' china fit in it, we'll probably just get another.

Good lake swim this morning, followed by Mr L. I bought some of the extra-large packs of strawberries and raspberries as they were cheaper and I doubt will get cheaper at what looked like good quality. Spent some time dividing and freezing them as well as flat peaches and apricots. All were indeed yummy.

Dropped in to do any flying needed in church and found the robot vacuum sitting at one end of the aisle, on the ramp to the door. After it hadn't moved for a while, I put it on the aisle carpet in case it was stuck. Zilch. Emailed vicar who controls it from his phone. Brushed the pews and checked the flowers.

Did more gardening as it isn't so hot today.

Printed off the last thing I need to do my tax return which is still unfinished. It's been at the top of my list for ages so hopefully I can get it done and dusted this weekend.

Morning all

I am feeling a little groggy this morning. DS2 came home yesterday to go to an engagement party for a friend. I offered to collect him at midnight, one of the joys of living in the middle of nowhere is that taxis are hard to come by and stupidly expensive. Midnight is very late for me! Anyhow I got him collected safely then as we were on our way home he announced that one of his friends was walking home, about 3 miles on unlit country lanes. Of course this was in the opposite direction to us but I turned the car around and gathered said friend up and deposited him at his front door. When we got in slightly drunken DS was making me laugh trying to stand on one leg to take his shoes off in the hall. Very late to bed.

We had made a vague plan to go to the coast today, not sure if that will come to fruition but some fresh air would be good. Flying is at the bottom of the list I am afraid but DH is decorating the living room so we are a bit all over the place anyway!

I should make an effort to check my finance spreadsheets today too.
