Weekly Flylady Thread 13th July 2026

I was going to start with the ensuite and bedroom today, but had a phone call first thing which meant someone was going to call in !!!

So, changed my plans and tidied the lounge, hall and kitchen first. Then started with the kitchen cupboard doors and moved onto clearing/cleaning the worktops down. My visitor came and went, but I'd started so I thought I'd finish doing the worktops, and this afternoon I hoovered downstairs and mopped. Regular water breaks, oh and I watered the plants in the garden too, plus elderly mum called for a chat. Last job of the day is to pop to the shops for tonight's meal and a few staples.

Tomorrow is going to be upstairs - bathrooms and main bedroom declutter. Will help MrShores in the garden and deadhead a rose or two.

Edit - ps I can't believe I said I'm helping MrShores in the garden. We're even joking that he's Percy Thrower - can't believe how he's taken to gardening. It helps that we have finally got the bones of everything in place and now its the fun stuff.

A quick hello as I've returned from funeral today. All went well; continued learning curve with electric car but generally positive. Nice to see relatives despite the occasion, however we're all worried about eldest stepbrother who has lost a lot of weight unintentionally and is awaiting urgent tests.

• charged car
• put away clothes etc from trip
• did drumming lesson
• watered greenhouse
• started to tidy accumulating debris in house. There are times when it gets so I really relish the thought of a good clean and tidy - and this is one of those times, having been away a couple of times and with prospect of similar in the next month.
• vow to get up at a cool hour and do some gardening and/or flying in the next week
• also vow to have a serious cull of items in my phone as it is starting to flag up running out of space.

Up at 7, made my bed, took new meds. Completed nyt puzzles. Brew, breakfast and other meds at 8.

I'm dressed. Brought empty bleach down and put new bottle on the stairs to go up to the bathroom.

Appointment to have clips removed is at 5.10 pm.

I plan to:

• Put out the recycling
• Feed the birds
• Fill the birdbath and the hedgehog's dish
• Change Sassy's seed and water
• WUDUPA

Awwww. NN across the road just knocked to give me her phone numbers and offer lifts etc. She'd seen Pops. Golly. I am so blessed 🥰

Morning all,

I think that I forgot to post yesterday, what with one thing and another. I went out for lunch with ex work colleagues and dropped into small town on the way to run an errand for DD. I got lucky with a free parking space outside the shop I needed so it was in and out in 5 minutes. I had my first fish box delivery in the morning, supporting SW fishermen, so I divided that up in the afternoon for future meals, as well as having an amazing wild bass for tea for the 3 of us. Such a treat, but we eat mainly veggie so what fish (and very occasionally meat) we do eat I am trying to make count for farmers and fishermen. Mr M delivered the essentials, so those were stashed away. Bedroom dusted after I vacuumed it the day before - yes all round the wrong way, but better than leaving it for another week which was the temptation.

Today I have watered the allotment, come home with flowers, French beans and chard. One load of washing is on the line and I am sure that there is more as per the list but the house is somewhat chaotic with DD’s moving day tomorrow. We need to finish her admin today, plus she wants me to do a couple of other things. Getting up will be her first challenge… The spare room will be back on my list when she has been settled in her new lodgings.

Thank you for the reminder for August cards, as that is one of my busiest months. I have also used that company, Blackcats, mainly for nice Christmas cards. The amount of craft Stuff that I have, I really ought to make this batch. Motivation and cooler weather needed. It’s still so hot here, my rain dances show no sign of working. Have a lovely day all. Have posted this on Mrs SD’s decluttering page so won’t fully repeat as its too hard..
My beloved Gizmo passed away yesterday, he was thee most amazing and precious 🐈‍⬛ and my shadow for over 15 years.. Today I am hollow.. 😔

Haven’t cleaned anything today.. tomorrow may be a little easier to focus.. 🤞🏼

MadamMim - so sorry to read about Gizmo. You'll be looking round for him for a long time. It's so hard when you lose a pet x

I have dusted, polished and vacuumed through downstairs and washed the kitchen floor. Both beds stripped and remade and all washing done, dried and put away. Family coming tomorrow so I have started defrosting some stuff and generally trying to prepare myself. We have one of their dogs staying for two nights too so that will be interesting. I always get myself in a state when we have visitors although they probably don't care.

so sorry about Gizmo MadamMim. It's heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet.

I managed to clean 2 small stains on the lounge carpet and there's no sign of them now.

Washing dried outside and now put away. Still contemplating doing some ironing before the end of the week. I will, of course, post on here if any ironing actually happens.

kitchen is spick and span and I'm using one of my cheerful new tea towels which makes me smile when I see it.

Well I have been dreading today, DS1 had an emergency appointment with the haematology team because he has had some worrying symptoms and some anomalies with his bloods. Thankfully he has been given the all clear as far as anything really nasty is concerned, but he needs to see the gastro team about his Crohn's.

Busy weekend, not sure how much flying will get done. I have put my name down for an easy ride with my old cycling club tomorrow which is slightly scary, but sometimes it's good to do things that are scary, or that's what I am telling myself!
