Yes I agree but I would have expected some sort of support as the seller is using their platform and they are taking money for it

Are they? If you've paid "under the counter", so to speak, eBay may take the view that the sale wasn't completed on their platform. If your payment wasn't done through their platform, how would eBay be paid?

It's a long time since I've checked, but I recall something like a warning on eBay about not completing a purchase "off platform" because you wouldn't be protected by their policies.

Is that's what's happened here?

Yes and I'm not disputing what Ebay has done or not done that's not the issue.

As a side note the seller would still get charged for a sale? Even a private seller would get selling fees to their account.

I'm not expecting Ebay to refund me. I am writing this regarding the company who owe me money.

Do you have the address of the seller? If they're relatively close by and have a showroom/forecourt, go and visit them. If not, then a letter before action threatening court action would be the next step.

I might just be terrible at searching eBay but I've not been able to find any current listings by that seller. Can you share a link to one? It doesn't have to be the same one you bought.

How were you given the account details to send a payment to? Is it a personal or a business account and does the name match the ebay seller account? I doubt there is actually a person called Mr Ukstaticcaravans registered on ebay.
