Missed Ryanair Flight

That’s not my experience. I am always told to remove everything from my pockets and put all electronic devices in a plastic tray. I am always amazed when I get everything back again.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
Remove from pockets, yes, but not compulsory to put in a tray. Stick everything in your bag.

I flew out of Copenhagen airport recently, via Ryanair .. yes the official info is that baggage drop opens 2 hours before the flight, but in reality it opened 3 hours before. No idea if this was a one-off or normal practice. 🤷♀️

I haven't encountered any UK airports which require phones to be scanned separately. I expect that was the passenger's choice.
Probably more a case of the phone was in a pocket, so was "thrown" into the tray at the last minute before she went through the body scanner.
PS - I've had to quote that way as the forum won't let me quote directly for some reason .. even though it worked for my previous post. 🤷♀️

I don't see how there would be a claim against the Airport. Every Airport I've been through has multiple signs at security saying how to pack the tray eg put a belt and other small items at the bottom under a jacket so it doesn't get caught.
This is her error.

Hi AllMy daughter and 4 friends are currently on their first holiday (aged 20) to Malta. They got to the airport with 2 hours to spare, went through security, put phones in plastic boxes, and went through to waiting area. She then realised she didn't have her phone, she looks everywhere. She can see its in the airport and specifically at security. They went and explained the situation, the staff were rude and dismissive. They wouldn't look in the machine for it… stress was mounting, time getting on, after much conversation they agreed to check under the scanner and there it was - it somehow got stuck in the machine. They ran to the gate and were 8 minutes late and RA refused to let them board. They explained the situation, all in tears at this point, but they said no.They went to the RA desk and again, explained the situation and ended up having to pay another £279 each for flights, from a different airport, at 8 that evening. It was currently 8:00 am! They wanted to get their early as they'd booked a party.I think this is so unfair, what are your thoughts please? is there a claim here? Many thanks. PoppyThis is all very unfortunate but I really can't see how this can be suggested to fall to RyanAir's door, or why it is unfair.
Sometimes, things just happen. There does not always have to be "someone to blame".
Maybe look at the positives:
- The phone was recovered undamaged
- No-one took the phone and used it for scamming your daughter, or using apps to make transactions, or whatever
- The airport did not discover the phone and implement the "unattended package" protocols.

I leave from the OP they were travelling to Malta.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have not could of.0 -
Pity the OP hasn't said which airport

Last flight I was on, we were told to remove all equipment from the bags. Maybe it varies?
