    It's a radical thought, isn't it?

Asking your customers to take a few seconds to pause and think and engage, in order to reserve the parking for your ACTUAL customers and not the terminally entitled who find it convenient.

But that's the only option they have - except for physical entry/exit restrictions, which in a store located like that one would probably not be acceptable to the local authority for traffic management reasons, with a relatively small parking area onto a busy urban street just off the city centre.

I suspect many people parking would assume the spaces were for customers, just like the OP, and don't bother to read the signs fully. It is a pretty big car park for the size of store. There used to be two stores there, neither of them supermarkets.

The whole area round about has parking restrictions as otherwise people visiting the SEC would leave their vehicles for long periods of time while attending an event. This they now cannot do as the maximum permitted time for on street parking is two hours.

Wonder how many tickets the PPC issue and how many never get paid?

Its a billion pound robo claim industry posting a invoice based on threat, lies and deceit ..they are looking for the low hanging fruit that are silly enough to pay .

One poster here is completely wrong …….offering incorrect opinion that has nothing to do with contract law….they wont try that over on the private parking board !

The OP could/should post on that board …..the regular crew are on another level, very experienced .

Getting the bigger picture from those involved to a high degree…. helps regarding understanding the private parking vermin that they most definately are .

so, if I decide to go into Lidl and browse their middle isle, but not actually buy anything, how do I validate my parking .?

By entering your number on the validation screen.

But if you don't buy anything you wont be a customer and even if you validate your parking you'll have to pay £90.

    As if.

So how do you suggest businesses should reserve their parking for their customers, and restrict the terminally entitled from taking advantage?

Remember, some locations simply aren't suitable for physical barriers restricting access.

Remember, some locations simply aren't suitable for physical barriers restricting access.

The number of locations where an engineering solution is impossible must be quite small.

Based on a quick look at Google Street view, the location being discussed in this thread (Lidl Finnieston) could definitely use barriers.

An exit barrier is all they need (provided entry is suitably forced to be one-way only). But retailers view any sort of barrier system as a PITA for their customers so prefer other methods.
