She gets dried food most of the time, but 2 or 3 times a week, this is supplemented with meat sachets (Co-op or Lidl!). She miaows as much as she likes, but she can't eat what isn't there! She does get treats every night when I get in from work (one little Aldi's stick thing which she stands on her back legs to beg for!) and that's her happy.
In all other respects, she is my lord and master, but when it comes to food, I am the boss!
love this post, made me laugh and quite understand

I buy my cats the 3kg bags of Nutrience from the vets / good pet shops. It's £13, but lasts two months and is exceptional quality.
My two will also only eat 'pouches' (although I'm sure they'd eat other stuff eventually if they had to...!), so I buy Tesco or Sainsburys own at £2.14 for 12 (rather than Whiskas or Felix). They have two a day between them plus the biscuits.
My monthly bill for cat food is, shamefully, about £17. A quarter of my grocery bill! But I'd happily feed my cats before I feed me...they're my little girls and I love them far too much.

This is the NZ page - there's no dealer in the UK, so pet shops and vet places buy it in. But there's detail about the actual food here:

mine are fussy they will only eat aldi or lidl pouches lol very mse they share two per day between the both of them. they also eat biscuits, once upon a time it had to be go cat now it will be anything. Mine absolutely refuse to eat real food haven't the foggiest what it is and just can't get them to try it, not that i'm too worried about that.
Did once have a cat that only at liver and M & S food but he soon changed his ways once he came to live with me rather than my softo mum0 -
Loved the post
I have two cats. The male is just a bin and eats anything.
The female is very superior and would like to eat from the Harrords food hall. She is also incredibly vain about her figure and so is a picky eater. For quite some time she would lower herslf no further than the pricey Hills food. Then one day after struggling home on a wet and very cold evening with my bags of reduced to clear food (for us), I realised the cats were living a lifestyle that the humans could never aspire to. I then put the cats on Tesco own make cat food with a 'take it or leave it' approach. After many displays of blantant disgust she now eats it.0 -
