Mine get tinned and dry food, I did have them on dry food only, but that gave the older one problems, so I switched to half and half. I did use the pouches for a while, but mine were never satisfied with just one - it took two to fill them - cost a fortune!
Hi splish, £1.47 in asda (tiger milk) for 3 * 200ml ~ morrisons is about £1.64 for the same. He doesn't have much as there is always water down so he has just over 3 teaspoons every 2 days, one cartoon lasts us ages, we put ours in the fridge.
Dry food only diet! was that recommended by the vet. Vets have this 'thing' with dry food as they tend to put you on a 'special' plan for your cat that costs a bomb and can only be purchased from the vet. Dry food actually expands (try dropping one biscuit in a little bit of water) so as soon as the cat eats it and it enters there stomach it expands and makes them bloated. Not good for cat and in the long run not good for owner either as its lots of vet bill in there old age. Cats are carnivores they eat meat, keep them on a meat diet with biscuits substituted (as you have).
As for the pouches, never buy pouches. Look at the label on a tin and i think it says 100g per ser for adult cat (or simaler) now most cats have two servings per day, now look at a pouch and the weight of a pouch is 85g sometimes less. The worse is open the pouch and its full of jelly/gravy and not much meat. This is another ploy to get you to pay more. The worse is sheba on the back it actually stats an adult cat needs 4~6 trays per day. Also look at it a green way, on can lasts us prob 2 maybe 3 days at a push, thats then recycled. Each feed you do using 2/3 pouches these are all getting binned ~ not good for the environment either.
good luck op0 -

its own brand for me and I will let you know ( ps at work I'm hard but my cats I just cant do ..need to get a grip)
see my last post regarding biscuits. I put it down for thomas purely because he love crunching on them and at least he has something if he is in all day and we are all at work. The only food i wont feed cats is this super meat stuff as the water content is not as good as the jelly/gravy stuff. As for he not drinking water, no he prob wont (not that you notice anyways) but they do just not lots. Also if they are outdoor cats they will usually drink from puddles/ponds. But you are right they mostly get there water/fluid from the food they eat.0 -
We have two 'house' cats, plus 3 'ferals' in the garden (there is a patch of waste-land at the back of our house, which became 'overrun by wild cats, but my wife, in conjunction with the RSPCA, caught them, one by one, and had them 'doctored' - two were put to sleep because they were 'unhealthyy' - the three remaining cats 'live' in our garden).
The 'outide cats get fed, twice a day, with whatever is cheapest - usually ASDA 'Tiger', with one tin sufficing for both feeds.
The 'house' cats are a completely different 'kettle of fish' - we have tried everything suggested, but they will only eat 'Whiskas' pouches. I'm sure that Pedigree put 'something' in it to make the cats 'addicted' :rotfl: :rotfl:
PS - If anyone from 'Masterfoods' is reading - that was ajoke.
I think we're too soft on them.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Same here Jackie - 1 v.large dog and 2 cats
Our dog loves cat food, but the dog's food is large breed, so has large peices. The cats do have a go, but the pieces are a bit too big for them :rotfl:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

I have an 11 year old house cat who can be a right madam at times, especially when it comes to food. She gets dried food most of the time, but 2 or 3 times a week, this is supplemented with meat sachets (Co-op or Lidl!). She miaows as much as she likes, but she can't eat what isn't there! She does get treats every night when I get in from work (one little Aldi's stick thing which she stands on her back legs to beg for!) and that's her happy.
In all other respects, she is my lord and master, but when it comes to food, I am the boss!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
16 year old moggy will only have whiskas seniors dry food. Have tried the cheaper stuff and she knows its not whiskas and looks up at me accusingly!April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£1500

Reading these lovely posts, I realise its not just me...yes you can try and feed them own brand but the older fussy cats win hands down when it comes to will power
I will try however but glad other people are the same and spoil their cats rotten, often when they don't spoil themself0
