  • if they are hungry enough they will eat it ~ trust me i was trained in animal care. When i worked in the cattery everyday i would put food down for one cat and he darnt eat it... come 3 days later later he knew thats all he got and he ate it. Trust me as long as they have water and you put down clean food each day they will soon get the message. However obviously don't let them go 2/3 days without food, if push comes to shove wean them off it by mixing the old stuff with the new.

Thomas usually gets fed on whatever they have one offer at work. The only thing he has and he loves is cat milk but for 55p and it last nearly 2 weeks its not a great expense.

Thank you for that, is my older female just trying it on when she refuses food do you think? she waits till i get more or chicken slices then eats?

I know a person that gets her food from the petshop - once it is out of date. They cant legally sell it normal so either Just depends how out of date you want to give your cat!

Crikey, where do you get it for that, pap? Mine love cat milk, but it's €1.16 (what, about 85p?) per 200ml bottle, or I can make a massive saving of 1c per bottle if I but a 3-pack!
Mine get tinned and dry food, I did have them on dry food only, but that gave the older one problems, so I switched to half and half. I did use the pouches for a while, but mine were never satisfied with just one - it took two to fill them - cost a fortune!
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Yes totally trying it on, (and no disrespect to you) but its prob because for so long you have 'given in' and allowed her to leave her 'proper food' and instead eating chicken slices. You have to do the tough love thing i am afraid. Still her her treats though but they need to be given as treats ie once/twice a week. We buy own brand supermarket food for our cat (not the smart price the one just above) but every week without fail he gets a pouch of sheba/some meat from the roast. But because he knows thats when he gets treats he eats the other food no problems. Its basically changing the cats behavior towards his food, it will take time but persevere. But never let him/her go without food for 2 days+ especially if they are very active.

I have three cats and one is so fussy she will only eat Felix good as it looks. The other two have dried food so they are fine, but the eldest costs a fortune. She's also a very clever cat-if I buy cheaper stuff she sits and howls then eventually she will eat it and then bring the whole lot back up somewhere, usually where we would least like it!

My old cat (he's 14) went missing for the whole of Christmas, 5 days in all. He missed the turkey completely, or else he would've got a good share of that.

We assume he got himself locked in someone's garage because he was very hungry when he finally came home.
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

Thanks for that, I will try cheaper food BUT she hardly ever drinks any liquid water, cat milk whatever she won't do it, so I am scared to just leave dry food after her health problems, its got to be wet fod as i read they can get alot of their water intake from that

its own brand for me and I will let you know ( ps at work I'm hard but my cats I just cant do ..need to get a grip)

My cats (luckily) prefer supermarket own in gravy to anything like whiskas etc. :o They don't like dry/biscuit food which is a lot cheaper but if they were truly hungry I reckon they'd eat it.
