Have you compared a quiet time of day performance to a busy time if day , if it’s noticeably better at say midnight compared to 7pm , then congestion is likely, if it’s the same regardless of the time of day , then probably not congestion, regardless you can report this poor performance, and keep reporting it , you may find that if they can’t resolve the issue they may offer you a penalty free escape, they may also fix the problem either by adding capacity if it’s a congestion issue , or by fixing the fault if it’s not congestion but is a network fault , so there is no need yet to assume you are stuck with poor performance for 24 months ….it may take a little perseverance if Vodafone initially say there isn’t a problem , that’s why you need to stick at it , if you keep reporting it and don’t allow them to fob you off , offering you an escape may be a way to get rid of (from their point of view ) a problematic customer.

Do you have a wired device (laptop/desktop) you can try? Or a friend who could bring one over?

It's still possible that the problem is to do with your WiFi. If it is, it might be fixable relatively cheaply.

We're connected to a 'child' pole (no idea what OR call them) which is only there to ease the connection to the last 3 houses in the row. All 3 have the copper lines still (you can tell by the droop) with us and the first house also having a newer fibre connection, the middle one is on Virgin. The pole itself is connected to the 'main' pole with 3 cables, 2 newish taut wires and a sagging copper line. So around here at least, they really don't care about the old copper lines.

With Sky you at least have the option of leaving every April when the price rises hit.

Saw a comment here somewhere that suggested that there may be a need to maintain "balance" on poles with an even load in all directions, so Cu may be left in place. Presumably, Cu is heavier than optical?

Try the following which is from AI so not guaranteed.

    1. High DNS Lookup Latency

When you type a URL, your router queries a DNS server to find the site's IP address. Vodafone's default DNS servers frequently experience congestion or slow response times, creating a noticeable delay before a webpage even begins to download.

How to Fix the Loading DelaysStep 1: Change Your DNS ServersSwitching from Vodafone’s default DNS to a high-performance public DNS provider resolves the vast majority of web-browsing delays.

    • Open your device network settings or log into your Vodafone router gateway (usually 192.168.1.1).
    • Locate the DNS settings under the WAN or LAN configuration menus.
    • Input primary and secondary addresses using one of these fast, reliable providers:
      • Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
      • Google Public DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

It wouldn't apply for our 'child pole' as all of the connections are within about a 120° arc. I got the feeling when they fitted it that they'd rather have gone direct to the main pole so they could then mark the 'child' one for removal. The guy actually asked my opinion on whether I thought next doors bathroom window may catch it when swung open, which is funny because the sons bedroom window does that with the existing cables.
