Good idea going with Plusnet on the Open Reach as OR will remove the redundant copper wire, should Vodafone use an ALT they won't touch the copper wire as it is not theirs.

In your dreams ! OR will leave everything in place unless it falls off when installing the fibre. All around here you can clearly see 2 cables going from the pole to each house.

Not a dream, reality here the houses with 2 cables here are the ones with ALT. fibre and redundant OR.

My house is the one with one OR fiber and copper wire having been removed.

Bit of a daft thing to be discussing but, Openreach installed my FTTP recently and left the Cu in place (different route from pole to house).

I spoke to someone yesterday who's knows a bit about computers at work and he said to do a speed test that shows latency as that would give an idea if it's to do with the line, wifi or how the router is handling things. I did that just now and for those who know how to make sense of these things the idle latency is 18, the download latency is 98 and the upload latency is 246. He said that high latency is usually a problem with the router and would cause similar issues to what I'm describing, so would that suggest that's the case here?

That entirely depends on if you're using a wired connection or wireless.

Well I'm at a loss then, the speed is fine, the wifi seems strong, it's apperently not the latency possibility…..So I seem to just be stuck with this issue then. Something is clearly not right and the performance is nowhere near as good as my old service so it looks like I'm stuck with this now for 2 years. Brilliant. Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

I too hate that we have to sign up for 2 years. Also if you make a change they start the 2 years again.
