Thanks Beanie, Dakota and DITR
I was really pleased and relieved, at least on days I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself during chemo I can remind myself it’s working 😁
The cafe cost was really ouch… it wasn’t even particularly nice cake 👀. I should have gone to the M&S on site and got some Percy pigs instead 😂
One item I forgot in our budget, which won’t be an issue much longer is DDs driving lessons. We pay for 10 lessons for each of the kids, plus the fat lesson on the test day. We also pay for theory and practical tests. Other than that, they pay the rest themselves.
DD struggled to get a part time job (it’s definitely harder these days, so much competition now wages are higher) so we’ve continued to fund them on the understanding she pays us back. She starts her new job this week, so we’ve got a few more to pay for until she gets her first wage. By then, she’ll owe us £1200… i suggested £100 a month but she says that’s too long, so she’ll do 5x£125DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Sounds like she's only planning on repaying just over half of what she owes! 5 x £125 is £625 and she owes £1200. She needs to almost double that so 9 x £125 + 1 x £75. Or am I reading that wrong and you're only asking for about half back?

She’s paying the whole lot back, that’s just my poor maths that worked it out to be £125 😂
You’re right… £250 a month. Even better 💰

Not much going on today, I have a meeting with work this morning. A generic one as I’ve been off for 3 months now.. bit annoying as they know why I’m off, but it’s fine. My boss is nice and will keep it brief and friendly, HR will be on it too. I’ve requested it be on teams, to save myself the trip in.
Then this afternoon I’ve got a friend coming over for a coffee and chat which will be nice.
Need to fit in a 60-90 minute walk at some point to get my steps in and I’ve got a V!nted parcel to post. Maybe I’ll combine the two 😁

Glad she's repaying the whole lot and you now know that you had miscalculated and have a bit more coming in for a few months!

hmmm… DH has just sponsored two of his team members £25 each for a charity run. I don’t mind in theory, but that’s £50 off that’s unbudgeted.
Adding on the driving lesson, we’re now down to £278 for 2 weeks. Bit tighter!!

I paid a stupid tax a couple of weeks ago, but decided to see if I could undo it today and it worked 😁
I signed up for a gold Amex (perks, points etc) and forgot to cancel the auto renewal 🙄. £195! Anyway, I did an online chat and asked if they could waive the fee as I’d meant to change it to the fee free reward card. They agreed and are crediting. Result. I also realised there was £80 of points accrued, so have applied those to the balance.
We use the card for all food shopping as helps me see at a glance what we’re spending. Also, we spend about £15k a year on food so the points are nice (usually put towards Christmas food shop).DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

If you don't ask you don't get. So well done on the results from Amex. £195 is a worthwhile saving.
