Cancer, cash and carrying on

It annoys me… the criteria is quite firm so if they’ve allocated it, they must have been satisfied I met them. We’ve never claimed any benefits, except for child benefit back in the days when it wasn’t means tested.
But I know if people found out, there would definitely be comments. I guess that’s why most benefits are means tested 🤔

Thank you ☺️
It has been full on and I’m only actually a third of the way through my year of treatment. I’ve been doing ok physically on the whole, but it’s still very draining.
I think you’re right, on days where I feel well I realise how rubbish I feel on other days. It’s all relative 😂
The kids keep me busy, I think if I didn’t have them to keep me on my toes it would be easier to lean into the rubbish days more.
It’s the main reason I won’t tell people, I’d take opinions to heart and then feel guilty about receiving it 😔DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Insurance with are the best I've found. :)
I'm glad you spoke to Macmillan about PIP - I should've done that at the time. Too late now - applied and they didn't approve the claim as I've 'shown motivation' about getting 'back to normal'. 🙄
Good luck with your savings this month - you've got this! 💪

Funny how other people love to make judgements on other people. Ignore them.

isn’t it amazing that cancer hasn’t yet been eradicated with so many experts on the planet?

I agree with what everyone has said above, ignore them. Re the PIP it's got nothing to do with anyone else so don't tell them about it. There are people I know at work who are full time and claim it because of disabilities. The money is for the extra costs involved because of their disability. One colleague for instance was visually impaired and deaf and the only way he could get to work was by taxi. The PIP allowed him to afford the taxi fares that enabled him to work. So look on the money as a bit of help while you're incurring extra costs involved with the cancer treatment. You won't be claiming it when you're back to normal so there's no need to mention it to anyone.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪3 -
Thank you, I’ll take a look.
There’s a really small window to apply, isn’t there?

It’s very annoying… it’s made me very conscious of what people with any differences from the ‘norm’ have to put up with.
And it’s not always from those you think. I’ve had conspiracy theories come from the most unlikely people and then others who I’d think would suggest kale juice and meditation have been very pro chemo etc
