Does this sound like a ripoff ?

Prices are advertised so expensive but not a rip-off.
Do you feel you watch £83 worth of TV every month?

See now that I was looking at new customer pricing (as per @Detail_Merchant's post).
So adding in a few odds'n'sods for extra room (and the ridiculous extra charge for HD/UHD) I agree with @oldernonethewiser, it's a lot of telly for a lot of money - not really a rip-off.
Haven't bothered looking, but I'm sure the equivalent packages from BT or Virgin would be similar (but there are probably new customer discounts to be had).
Though about getting Sky Sports via NOW for a few days to watch the Test Match - £15/day to watch in SD - add a tenner to be able to see the ball!

Sky Priority Customers are generally people who struggle to communicate for instance (plus many other reasons) so having alternate means of communication makes perfect sense. I think they're a UK based small team. They're not all restricted in what they can do on an account of course.

That sounds correct - but why was I not informed or given any choice ?

maybe because they struggled to communicate with you in the conventional way.

The conventional way being what exactly ?

However they communicated with you previously, if they ever did?

OP I seem to recall that you have difficulties using the telephone and prefer written communication?
Do Sky know this? If so, that'll be why you were put on this scheme.
If I'm mis-remembering, and you're entirely happy speaking on the phone, I apologise and must've confused you with someone else.

Yes - that is correct but its no excuse to tie me into a powerful group that are non flexible and without giving me the option of leaving them if I want to - its as if I am guilty of something - but what ?
I have been a paying customer for 23 years and have always paid - on time - never got in to debt

I have always communicated with Sky via email - for 23 years - never phoned them - and they decided to move me (for my own protection ?) about 5 or 6 years ago !
