Finally worked out (admittedly somewhat guesstimated) curtain and rail measurements and chose curtains and rails. What a blimmin relief to have that done, I feel like I deserve a gcse maths certificate 😁

There are plants that need to be planted. I'm not doing it in this heat, assuming I even could with a finger that has not completely healed after an encounter with an 8 inch chef's knife. Thankfully the gardeners will be here shortly.

I might tell them if they are good boys* they can have an ice cream.

I have been out a lot lately. I went out Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday! I had a much needed lie-in today until almost 1 in the afternoon. I am out both days at the weekend so I am going to rest the next few days. I have an appointment with someone tomorrow, but early in the morning to try and avoid the heat.

I have some frames coming today so I need to frame two pictures as I bought a new one at the weekend and another picture fell off the wall and smashed.

I have taken the advice to keep the curtains and windows closed on the south facing side and it has worked quite well. There was a massive thunderstorm here this morning, but I was so tired that I slept through most of it.

I'm going to read more of my book now as I said I would give it to someone at the next book group.

Made a hole in the wall so that the door now opens flat. This much closer to getting my bike out the front door :)

Gardeners cancelled yesterday (heat apparently!! who knew!!!) but should be here this aft. Even if they only get the plants in where they are needed that will be fine. If they need to cancel again the plants will go back on to their trays and a friend will water them while we're away.

If they have the time and stamina I will ask them to bash down the council hedge that fronts our property - I was nearly hit by a car speeding along the road when I tried to pull out the other day. OH mentioned that he can barely see over everything and he's in an SUV whereas I'm in a tiddly VW up.

@PennysIntoPounds I'm so glad I'm beyond lady issues, with or without a heatwave.

My gardeners came today looking way overheated before they even started. Supposed to have been here 2 hours but they lasted less than one. I had prioritised essential work so they got through that so I was happy. They were sensible to stop early, sensible to be wearing those big brimmed sun hats with a curtain to protect the back of the next. I got out a couple of glasses, a big bottle of orange juice and icy water which I thought was the bare minimum I could do for them. I was charged £5 less than the rate for an hour but I paid the full hour anyways just for the effort they made.

Yes, I'm very glad I don't have lady issues too. I must be menopausal at this point as I don't remember the last time I bought tampons. The nurse said I was very lucky not to have any symptoms and just sailed through it.

It is so hot and stuffy in my house today! Horrible.

I have set up the new printer! Most pleased - we've been meaning to buy a new one for months, and now it's been sat there since before we went on holiday waiting to be set up. Annoyingly I can't install the software to print from my work computer (I'll ring tomorrow to see if they'll do an admin sign in, but I suspect they've clamped down considerably on external software). However, it's installed perfectly well on home laptop so that will have to do.

Also remembered what I'd done the other day - reattached the headboard to the bed after FOUR YEARS of it sitting on the other side of the bedroom :lol: Although it does need some more attaching - I just banged in the two nails that were already in there, but it's not very stable and there's a lot of banging on the wall even when you just sit up :lol: :lol:

Also bought a new (to me) phone, so that's busy talking to the old one transferring everything over.

Planted radishes and beetroots out the other day, and some cabbages yesterday, although I'll need to do the rest, probably tomorrow or over the weekend. Getting there!
