Glad its not just me horrified by the drink prices. Got to school on Friday and they had a icecream van outside, and the ice creams were £5.50 each. I was mortified, not blaming the small businesses at all as I know their prices will have risen but I had three to buy and I didnt get much change from £20. I felt a bit sorry for some parents as it puts them in a bit of a position
Anyway, so not a NSD friday due to the ice cream but one yesterday and one today.

Its shocking
i used to run a small business - mobile coffee car but it was too hard to make money after pitch fee, coffee, milk, cup costs etc. Sold it a few years ago - so it must be really hard now
** the school shouldn't allow an ice cream van outside btw - pretty sure its against food regs as ice cream is high fat & sugar**

I can imagine. A lot of local independent businesses near us are closing :(
As I say I didn't blame the van at all, I more just thought school put parents in a tricky position where it would be really hard to say no. Our school does a lot of "extra" things which are great in some senses but fundamentally are additional cost to parents, this week weve had the ice cream van and a new compulsory PE jumper which is £25. A lot of money if you have more than one child. I have totalled £400 so far this year in trips & they've now introduced a tuck shop on a friday so that's another £10 a month. Id moan if they did nothing with the kids I'm sure😆
