I am not able to continue on here for time being. We were in a car accident (non fault) Our 10 year old car got written off and only worth peanuts So have to sort a new car. We are bruised and achy and keep getting calls from Carpenters Legal which I will advise we wont claim as online reports say they are rubbish. I will come back when I am back to my normal self

@otb666 I am so sorry to hear your news. Glad you’re all OK. Hope you can get a replacement car that isn’t too expensive.
I have three shops to declare from earlier in the week:-
- 98p in L1dl on Monday, when DH picked up a packet of puff pastry and used a 15% off offer.
- £5.47 In L!dl on Wednesday, when he picked up YS fishcakes 2x£1.14 and ice creams £3.19.
- And I spent £28.83 there on Thursday, buying YS sausages 3x£1.14, YS ham 81p, YS microwave potatoes 49p, prosciutto 2x£1.61, 12 Gouda slices £2.29, 500g wholewheat fusilli 75p, tinned salmon 3x£1.55, 500g coleslaw £1.09, twin pack bacon £2.39, 12 large FR eggs £2.39, Bratwurst £2.99, 4-pack breakfast muffins 2x65p and 1.07kg bananas 96p.
This brings our total spend to £173.40/£195.30 leaving £21.90 for the rest of the month.
It should be doable. We might need milk and we will need fresh veg before the end of the month, plus some salad stuff today, but not much else.

@otb666 So sorry to hear about the car accident, and glad you were not badly injured. Wading through insurance claims and finding a new vehicle is always such a nightmare, and it feels very unfair when you are not at fault that you still somehow come off worse than you were before. I wish you well.
A quick visit to my second favourite community fridge this morning where I got little gem lettuce, baby potatoes, mini munch cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, avocados, 4 skinless chicken breasts (previously frozen, so I need to cook these this afternoon), courgettes, carrots, fine green beans, aubergines, lime, oranges, green pepper and two Hello Fresh mystery bags (one will be veg and spices for a main meal, the other for a fruit dessert). I haven’t opened the sealed HF bags yet, they can sometimes be quite random. Oh, and I also got two cronuts which are my new favourite sweet treat 😁
No donations required at today’s fridge session so no change to my June total.

our old banger got written off but i pushed for it to be repaired as getting a replacement meant a loan at the time
the garage who is accessing your car damage might be able to repair it below / same as write off cost if you ask (push) for it. Give it a go

So sorry to hear about your accident. Make sure that you rest and get well. The stress of a car accident and then sorting out all of the problems with getting another car is exhausting. Glad to hear that you’re not seriously hurt.

Oh goodness, @otb666, thank heavens you are ok. You have my sympathy for having to fight your way through the insurance cobwebs-of-doom; I'd agree with checking whether your garage might try a mend, as the secondhand car market is currently a shortcut to insanity! Don't ask me how I know… I'll just wish you lots of good luck!

Haven't posted for a bit and grocery shopping has gone a bit wild. Total spent in last few weeks £194.18. this takes total to £471.96. / £500. Got just enough for my Riverford delivery on Thursday but nil else. I will need to go to shops towards end of week so am going to go over this month. Might consider cash for groceries next month to see whether that makes a difference

@otb666 lots of support here when you are ready to resume. Really sorry to hear you are damaged as well as your car. I found I was having back problems after an accident where I initially thought I was just a but bruised, and for years afterwards my back would seize up and ache - it is well worth obtaining a medical opinion. Mr Sl drove into the back of someone in 2016, on his way home - they were sure they were OK but when changing his policy last year it emerged that the cost of the claim was nearly £15000 higher than we knew as they had back damage from the shunt
