It is annoying when Ebay has introduced this new thing but failed to let sellers know about it and advise what will happen if……. and if not………

At first I thought it was a good thing as it allows combining postage easily - and I am all for that.

But in this hot weather it has become annoying as recently I have sold between 7- 8 am. Due to heat, I like to get my errands done at 9 am when it is cool. But I have had to wait till 10 - 11 am or post the next day. I wonder if the buyers have a choice to complete the sale by saying "I do not wish to add to my basket"?

"I wonder if the buyers have a choice to complete the sale by saying "I do not wish to add to my basket"?"

That would be a perfect solution.

I agree it's very poor form to introduce this without any notification to buyers or sellers.

    Had my first experience today,

    Paid – wait to post
Buyer has 2h 59m left to shop

Clicking on the message takes you to the buy a label page.

The matter is complicated by my holiday settings becoming active today, although I think I was already on holiday before the purchase.

People cannot buy if you have your holiday settings set correctly. Make sure you the 'allow sales' box is ticked on your settings.

I've had to put up with this about ten times since it was introduced.

It makes sense in some regard, because it cuts down on postage and promotes combined postage. However the time that eBay seems to give the buyer seems to me to be excessive. For example, despite the 3 hour communication, I accepted an offer at 7:00AM this morning did not get permission to dispatch until 2:30PM this afternoon. How many buyers are leaving 7+ hours between purchasing a first and second item from the same seller?

It's even more infuriating when you have scheduled in a trip to the post office or are a few hours from the 9pm cutoff for a next day Royal Mail collection, and then someone buys something a couple of hours beforehand. Normally you could have added it to the collection, but now you have to leave that one item behind and arrrange another collection / trip as e-bay won't let you buy the postage. 😡

Also, while e-Bay's are pushing sellers to offer faster and faster deliveries and punishing missed deadlines, they are now combining that with a system that can waste a whole despatch day where you could have dropped it at the post office. Even worse when the BUYERS are in a hurry too and neither side can speed things up!

    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

Account set to 'allow sales for 15 days', started it 3 days before I leave, resumes the Monday after I get back on sat.

I have three kinds of listing, stuff I can easily pop in a postbox, stuff I need proof of posting, and stuff I'd rather not be messing with a couple of days before a holiday.

I'd guess the buyer hadn't committed to pay when making the offer, so the clock only started once they completed checkout. I think an hour would be sufficient.

So sales are allowed which explains why you made a sale , I tend to switch all mine off and just tick the 'allow sales' the day or so before I get home.
