New bathroom help and ideas please
We are at the very early stages of looking at having a new bathroom fitted.
We have a compact bathroom, shower over the bath, vanity/sink and toilet. Only window is a single velux. We have a low pressured system and combi (oil) boiler. The ceiling is mainly slanted as it goes into roof space.
We are considering a wet room or shower only, however we then thought this may not be appealing for families when we come to move in what we think will be 4-5 years. Would appreciate any thoughts on this aspect. Personally I don't like a bath, so not fussed, but also not as keen on a wet room (this was the Husband's idea.
Our main objective, other than having a nice modern bathroom that might help with the sale-ability in due course, is having a really good powerful shower, I'm thinking decent hotel standard and a waterfall type head. I quite like the idea of it being hidden, but I don't think we have space for this?
Please help me get an idea of what we can realistically do
Thank you

Is it for a house that would primarily appeal to families?
It very much depends on your area and primary buyers.
Personally although aged a wet room would, has put me off purchase because it would be such a big job to return it to a bathroom.
Where a stand alone shower is easier to replace with a bath or acceptable in itself. Both can be adapted these days if bathing has become difficult .

It's a 3 bed semi, with a very large garden. Semi rural location, excellent local secondary school, good motorway links and will also have a train station when we move.
When we put our house on the market last year it was a mix of young couples presumably considering a family or older couples

If you are not moving for 4 or 5 years, you should ( within reason) do it in a way that suits you. Although as the previous poster said, a wet room is not really such a good idea.
We have a low pressured system and combi (oil) boiler.
What do you mean by 'low pressure' ?- combis usually work off mains pressure.

Agreed, this will be the first new bathroom I've ever had, so I will want to use and enjoy it whilst we're here. We had thought we'd try and move next year, but a change in uni plans it makes more sense to stay where we are until the course completes.
I was going by what I read in B&Q - we don't have a water tank in the attic and we won't be putting one in, the poster said what we have is a low pressure system?? I just assumed it would mean something to someone more knowledgeable than myself??

Do what you want, no one knows what the next people will want so don't worry about it for now. If you want a wet room, have one.
Water pressure will probably be fine. If you had a tank in the loft you'd need a pump to get decent pressure, but with a combi and mains fed it will be adequate.

Unless you already have very good water pressure you may struggle to get the high pressure you want out of a rain head. I world get a dual head so that you also have the option of the conventional one. Note that many shower heads come with flow regulators for water saving reasons, though they can usually be removed.
I am slightly obsessed with rightmove and I'm seeing more and more houses that just have a shower rather than a bath, though I can't say what impact it's having on their time to sale. To me a nice luxury big shower would be much more appealing than having to use a shower over the bath every day, even if it did mean missing out on occasionally having a bath. Others will differ.

There are some lovely big shower 'cubicles' that would work across the length of where the bath is in the plan. That would appeal to the majority and give buyers the option to replace with a bath if they wish.

I have a fitted adjustable shower unit at the tap end of my bath with a foldable glass shower screen. It opens up both options for myself and anyone else who may want either or both. Also great for visiting guests / family - Job sorted 😉.

Thanks all, sounds like we have a bit more of a plan, we'll try and get someone out to go through some options with us and get an idea on prices.
Fortunately and perhaps for the first time ever my Husband and I are in agreement on tiles, toilet, sink, look of shower, it's just the wet room vs enclosure shower but I think I can sell that an enclosure would be much better
