New bathroom help and ideas please

I stayed in a motel in some backwater out in the Mojave desert. A shower was the only option to get clean. Got in and started getting wet and then had a fall on the wet shower tray. That reinforced the reason I prefer a proper bath.

and is why you can buy non slip shower trays or non slip mats, for showers and baths, because you can easily slip getting in or out of a bath.

We had to use the shower over bath (also a handheld /rainhead option) for a few months as the main shower had developed a suspected leak. I slipped slightly once and immediately went out and bought a rubbery/non slip shower mat to use when showering, which I cut to the right size.

And ask around for a REALLY good bathroom fitter, one that is recommended by others who have had their bathroom done. We fell on our feet with ours - he's old school, and meticulous in his work. But he doesn't need to advertise - all his business comes word of mouth.

(Also just having my bath replaced by a walk-in shower!)

Bathrooms like kitchens are often beset by compromises.

Size, shape, location, underlying building structure etc add to that the difference in price and affordability all limit what the owner might wish to achieve and what can be achieved.

One person's aspiration of a 5 m grant island even if there is no space for the behemoth is another's absolute hate.

Just do what you want but bear in mind what you pay will not be what other people value it as when you come to resell.

Or just fit the bland, white, everyday suite that is fit for purpose and doesn't cost you too much.

This question comes up a lot on our local FB pages. There are consistently 2 very good bathroom fitters recommendations, and they post a lot of their work on their pages.

Same with us. He had almost a 9 months waiting list, but was worth waiting. Ours did everything himself- plumbing- floor tiles- wall tiles - painting - minor electrical work etc .

I inherited a wet room when I bought my current house and it's been totally fine.

However, I've also worked in Nordic countries where it's not unusual have a washing machine in the wet room too.

I do find the whole English prudishness about being naked in a home bathroom slightly amusing though.

I don't know what it is about a being a wet room naked makes me feel odd, maybe I just think I'd be cold?? On the other hand I'd also like to go skinny dipping - but somewhere warm. I realise it's not exactly rational
