The space taken up by a bath is way more than what's needed for a shower. Consider going, say, 800x1200 for the cubicle, which is nicely roomy, and that leaves a nice ~500mm for units or shelving
That is exactly what we did, when we removed the the bath from the bathroom 25 years ago. Then left the configuration the same when we redid the bathroom 5 years ago, but this time went for more expensive glass doors rather than plastic.

I took the bath out of my bathroom and just had a lovely big walk in shower. Many people said I’d have trouble selling it, but - and it depends how long you may stay - I’m a great believer in having your home how you want to live in it, rather than how other people might want to.

Before.
Where the bath was. Ignore the floor, that is being done tomorrow.
I'm also a believer in having it as you want it.

So you now have an enclosure with many differing facets and crevices that become harbours for grime and scale. How do you clean all those?
Wet room + squeegee = easy.
Your life is too short to be unhappy 5 days a week in exchange for 2 days of freedom!0 -
I have a similar shower arrangement, just without a door and a squeegee works just as well there to keep it clean as it does in a wet room.

We also debated the shower/no bath conundrum. We wanted a bidet as well and space constraints meant shower only. The imaginary family that would reject our house in a sale cannot rule our lives. We won't be moving for many years. In any case our shower is 1000 x 1200 and you could get a substantial plastic bath in it for babies and small children.
Wet rooms are fine for brochure photos and we see little else in these. We are sure there are specialists who can install them and give you peace of mind, but personally we wouldn't touch them unless on a solid ground floor.

If you are still in doubt betwixt choice of wetroom and cubicle, get quotes for both.
Then go for the sensible cubicle…
Squeegee ma botty.
