Further to my posts, I have been told by different call handlers at HSBC, different answers as to when interest will accrue from, some have said from date ISA was opened, others have said when money received by them and yet others when the money shows in my account.

It has taken 33 days since ISA was opened before it showed in account which is a loss of up to £248.96 in interest if interest is calculated from date of opening, so waiting for the phone call from complaints team to see what they say.

to update OH’s partial isa funds appeared in his hsbc isa today. There’s a lot of isa money they haven’t yet taken so goodness knows what will happen with that.

Heard back from Helen Crane at This is Money and reading between the lines she’s only interested if money is missing. So that’s not me or OH anymore - at least for now till HSBC take the remaining isa money then I reckon the whole rubbish delay will begin again.

I recently opened an new fixed rate cash ISA with HSBC (2026-27 financial year) and also requested a "transfer in" from another BS (apx 4 weeks ago).

Still no sign of the "transfer in" commencing ("another BS" still awaiting contact from HSBC).

Poor service from HSBC (I am considering submitting a formal complaint to FOS).

Before you can go to the FOS, you need to formally complain to HSBC. They then have 8 weeks to investigate and to provide you with their final position. If you are not satisfied then, you can go to the FOS.

To get the 8 weeks ticking, raise your complaint with HSBC today

Do HSBC have a clear policy on interest on iSA transfers - as you seem to get a different answer depending on who you speak to

Do you get interest on your HSBC isa from

a the date you requested the transfer

b the date they sent the transfer request to your current provider

c the date they got the funds from your current provider

d the date they should have received the funds from your current provider within ISA agreed deadlines i.e. 15 working days post them requesting the transfer

e 15 working days post you requesting the transfer

f when they paid the funds into your HSBC ISA account - which can typically at least seven or eight working days after they received them

It should probably be c or d whichever is earlier - but who knows. The issue of course is how you can be compensated by them via a complaint because of their failure to meet industry standard guidelines and arguably the stress of not knowing where tens of thousands of pounds of your cash is for nearly two weeks while it apparently sits in some suspense account at HSBC!
