Make sure u get a complaint reference number from them on the 'phone, which should then be followed up by an email confirmation.

I did it in less than 5 mins on chat on the hsbc app - go to chat (bottom of landing page on app) ignore the bot and write: ‘formal complaint’ which will immediately refer you to a human. Wait for them to message and say ‘waited more than 15 working days for isa transfer into my new hsbc isa. Open formal complaint’
Then they send you a reference number. They will try to talk you out of it but just say ‘open formal complaint send my reference number for official complaint’

Update, so I have just spent 31 mins on phone to HSBC who for the first 26 mins would not raise a formal complaint, I was polite but insistent and they have now raised a complaint so will see what happens now.
FYI the reason they did not want to raise a complaint they said was due to the large amount of ISA transfers they are dealing with and therefore a complaint would not speed things up and they could not respond to complaint till money was in account, you couldn't make it up

It will be a standard communication sent automatically by HSBC when a complaint is logged and not resolved within a certain period. Nothing special about it at all.
I do feel that some on here have unrealistic expectations about what you expect.

I did mine today through the phone line.
In theory I've jumped the gun but todays the cut off date and both HSBC and YBS say no (2nd) attempt at transferring the ISA has been recorded.
So something has been messed up.

Dont think I ever said it was ‘special’ and I would be grateful if you didn’t put words in my mouth.
is it an unreal expectation for me to know where my OH & my own ISA savings have disappeared to for weeks now? I believe that is disgraceful not to be kept informed! The isa money is just gone and it is our life savings.
Have transferred isas many times in the past and never had this kind of delay or disappearance of isa funds ever before.
