Subject: Looking for SIM-only recommendations (Switching from Sky)
Subject: Looking for SIM-only recommendations (Switching from Sky)
Hi everyone,I’m currently with Sky Mobile but I’m looking to switch providers as I’m not happy with the service I’m receiving. I want to move to a SIM-only deal and need some advice on the best value options currently available. My requirements are:
- Budget: Ideally around £5–£8 per month (definitely no more than £10).
- Data: At least 3GB monthly (more is a bonus).
- Calls/Texts: Must include unlimited UK minutes and texts.
- Network: Needs to support 5G.
- Number Porting: I want to keep my current mobile number.
I’ve been looking at providers like SMARTY or Lebara, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has found a great budget deal recently. Which networks offer the best reliability and 5G speeds for this price point? Also, if you have any tips on the smoothest way to port my number away from Sky, please let me know! Thanks in advance for the help!

Looks like Sky use O2. If your issue is with coverage this might be of intetest:
There will be no issue porting your number.

I'm just in the process of switching mine to Talkmobile - 35Gb for £6.95.
They use Vodafone rather than my current O2 so I bought an Asda mobile sim, also Vodafone, for £5 a month ago and put it in an old phone to make sure I still got a decent phone signal at the places I frequent.0 -
WHat are thoughts on smarty ? package

By "not happy with the service" do you mean with the O2 network that they use (think we know that you're not happy with Sky)?
Do you (or friends/family/colleagues) get a decent signal with other networks where you need to use your phone?
No point getting a great deal with (eg) Lebara if your Vodafone signal is rubbish.

Smarty uses Three. Does the network have decent coverage for you?
I have read that the way to contact them is via live chat which may or may not suit you.
Lebara have a number to call, as well as live chat.

I'm on Talkmobile
60GB, 5G, unlimited calls and texts for £7.95 a month, runs off the Vodafone network.
You should be able to easily get what you're after for half your budget.
