5 days and I'm on holiday.

I'm so tired. I also wonder if I'm ill as I have been hot, cold and achey today. I also have a headache.
Lovely dinner at my sister's tonight (hope I haven't made them ill). We had fish pie and deconstructed Eton Mess. I ate too much. We had a nice chat. My sister's house seems much more spacious now my niece has moved out. She is cracking on with the DIY. They gave me a rather heavy present for my brother-in-law which I will have to take on the train. I haven't got him anything.
I am too tired to really string a sentence together so I will leave it there.

Still a bit fatigued from the virus I think and haven't done any housework. I will deal with my back to work interview when it comes to it! Need to wash up and collect a prescription. Also cut my nails.
Just doing a wash - there is a real eggy drain smell which happens sometimes when I run the washing machine. Never mind.
My brother-in-law will be there this weekend, I must pop and buy him a nice can of drink. I also have a book I can give to him. It's by Patrick Grant and is called Less. He's not a big reader but I think he will appreciate it is he ever gets time to read it.
Right. Must get on.

If your washing machine is smelling bad then do an empty hot wash without any detergent. This should help clean it. It's what my machine manufacturer recommended and it works well. It actually tells me when it needs doing so I don't have to wait for it to start smelling!
Probably worth doing about every 6 weeks or so to help keep it clean. Often it's due to a build up of detergent and/or conditioner. I don't use conditioner in mine - don't think it's really necessary.

I second the above suggestion from @joedenise. When we bought our washing machine, the salesman said, 'This is the bit where I'm supposed to try & sell you an extended warranty, but you're not going to buy one, are you, because you're just going to run an empty hot wash cycle every month or two'. That's what we do. I lob a half cupful of vinegar in too. Gets rid of that frowsty smell as well as any gunk lurking.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!1 -
I think the eggy smell is from the drains.

The hot water and the vinegar run through the washing machine should clear out the drains at the same time. Good luck.

I will try the hot water and vinegar in the washing machine. It's an old beast, it came with my flat which I've been in 8 years. It keeps going and seems to work well.
I'm away for a week now. Feeling better after a mini-virus/ burnout. I'm away at my mum's and my sister and her family are here roo. Of course, it has started raining today but hey ho. I'm knitting socks for my friend's birthday. I also need to do some sewing for my mum's birthday. I also gave her a couple of t-shirts and she said, oh a lot of my t-shirts have holes under the arms. Taking thrifty to the extreme! I gave my brother-in-law coffee and a book I think i mentioned. He seemed pleased.
A bacon sandwich for breakfast when someone else wakes up.

At my mum's. Had a lovely weekend with my sister and her family. My sister and her husband cooked and made some lovely food and it was lovely to see my niece and nephew.
I've started knitting some socks for my friend. They're going very well. We have some nice plans for the week.
Scrambled eggs on toast in a bit I think.

My brother-in-law recommended some new antihistamines that he said work really well. I got some in Boots when we were out this morning. Unfortunately they were £12.99 for 30 but they do indeed work really well. All my symptoms have gone. I'll have to wait and see how they work on a sunny day.
We were going to go out for a walk but it started raining again so we're watching a film. We're having roast chicken for dinner tonight. I've nearly finished the first sock I'm knitting.
