I am a stay at home mum at the mo. BUT I AM BORED! I have just finished a diploma in pollution control with the OU. And now we are hoping to move to New Zealand soon. So it WILL be all go in a month or two, but at the moment I am bored senseless. Which means I will have to get on with ebaying all of the stuff I have upstairs.......
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Chartered Surveyor - it's a myth we're all well paid. Some are, but not me. Always wanted a job which gave me the chance to be out of the office a lot...............I've been out the office, erm, once in the past 4 months, so different from what I expected, but the people are really nice.
In an ideal world, I'd have been involved in something medical, probably physiotherapy as I love working with people as opposed to numbers. I did think about selling my home and going back to Uni but when you take into account lost wages, loss of equity in the home, pension contributions and the cost of supporting myself going back to Uni before I was back earning what I am now, and there wasn't much change left from about £225,000!!!!
Guess I'm a paper pusher for good.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Lol, I can't believe I have found someone I didn't tell....I LOVE my birth story, so I am going to bore everyone with it again, sorry!Hi snaggles - I'm still around - nosing on the boards - love reading all the stories - (nosey us midwives :rotfl: )
How did the labour etc go - think i must have been away when you had her ( was a girl yes?)
I woke up at 2am feeling a bit weird, had 2 bouts of stomach pain in quick succession, thought I just had an upset tummy, turned over in bed and felt a little pop, and suddenly the bed was a bit soggy!
The waters were green so we rang the hospital and they said come straight in. Contractions started coming every 2 minutes , leapt into the car, drove part way there....turned round and went back home for maternity notes
, set off again, arrived at hospital at 3am, contracting every minute, RAN up the corridor, then realised I couldn't go any further.....
Had to be wheeled up to the ward in a wheel chair with baby very much on it's way......two quick puffs of gas and air.....they stuck the monitor on and the heart rate was dropping hugely with the contractions, examined me and I was fully dilated so started pushing.
After a couple of pushes they were getting VERY worried about the heartbeat, so I had an episiotomy and she came out with the next push, at 3.24pm, absolutely fine, a beautiful little girl. 84 minutes in total!
She's called Natasha and I can hardly believe it but she's 8 months old next week!

My OH was born in Australia and i would love to use that for us to go over there, would be great but hes just taken on a job with prospects so wouldn't be for a long time i think unless that doesn't work out!Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
I work for the government. Procurator Fiscal service in scotland which is the along the same lines as the CPS except we deal with every case when someone has been arrested.
Money is ok - i've eventually made it to the top of the pay scale after 8 years. 25.5 days holiday, pension scheme, full sick pay for 6 months, full maternity pay which i took full advantage of this year, and the home computer initiative which has since been scrapped.
Down side is not much scope for promotion, OT is scarce and it's too cushy to want to move on.
Also have to spend most monday mornings listening to partners of people who have been locked up over the weekend telling me that they didn't mean to smash their face off the door/wall/kitchen table etc and that they love them so can they please not be sent to jail!!!!!Official DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts

Now now
don't think like that.
When people undervalue what they do I'm always reminded of the part in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, when one race send away the third of the population they consider useless (hairdresses, phone box cleaners etc) and the rest remain behind to live life without them.
Except they die of a disease.

Pap, don't you dare say that missus! There is sooo much more to you than that. A person's worth can't be judged by the job they do, it's about what's in their heart, and you have one of the kindest hearts I have ever come across. Don't feel ashamed of what you do, be proud of who you are.postingalwaysposting wrote: »i clear tables and make sandwiches in a wholesalers, i am the chaff amongst you :rotfl:
