I pretend to care about research data at a University.

  • I'm a journalist, I work for a regional newspaper.:hello:

The pay isn't great but it's an interesting job and I get plenty of time to use the internet and lurk around these forums..although I never normally get chance to post anything!!

I'm a police officer, been one for 12 yrs now, want to leave, sick of all the polotics, targets etc, would love to work with people with learning difficulties. Would have to take a big pay cut tho so have to make a decision soon.

My school had computers when I was there - do you think I ever got to touch one?

Now they are ubiquitous and are used in virtually every lesson as looking for things on t'internet. Which is where the "being shown to use..." comes in.

Perhaps experiences vary - I'm 30, and computers have been around most of my life. My Dad got an Amstrad at home when I was 7, and I was given an Amiga when I was 12, and I've had internet / email since I was 17.

It sounds just like Probation! I don't feel like I deal with offenders properly, seeing them gets in the way of entering data onto spreadsheets!

Distinct lack of joiners, plumbers etc on this list! does this mean that we should encourage kids towards trades and they won't have money problems or are we just lucky because we've owned up to ours??:undecided

My OH is a qualified carpenter, but he works as a Maintenance technician, doing all-round stuff. He's not got as much debt as me, but it did cost him a ridiculous amount to get his qualification (he started at 22, so technically a mature student). I am contemplating doing a weekend plastering course myself (and i'm a 5 foot girl, woo!)
