I'm a drug support worker in a hostel for homeless people. Help them deal with their problems and hopefully resettle them into the comunity. Then do outreach support with them to help them live on their own.

    Interesting thread!

I was the manager of a residential home until last week...I jacked it in to focus on opening my own business...however I will also be banking for a local nursing agency to keep a few quid coming into the pot.

  • I'm a business financial analyst - which tells you precisely nothing of what I do on a day-to-day basis! To my mind, it's just a glorified clerical job, monitoring costs against forecasts, with a sideline in being everyone's fairy godmother, in that, if they have a problem, they come to me for a solution. It's rather ironic, given my financial issues. However, I'm pretty darn good at what I do, even if I did make a mess of my own finances by being involuntarily unemployed for about 7 months back in 2000.

My salary is a little higher than the national average, I think, but rises are very hard to come by - usually around 18 months apart - and I haven't yet mastered the art of walking on water or leaping through fiery hoops. What galls me, though, is that there are people doing less responsible jobs than me, in the same company, for about 25% more than what I'm earning. But I'm not supposed to know that.

I'm stuck in a job I tolerate, for the sake of paying off my debts. Commute 60 miles each day, but there's nothing paying a similar salary closer to home, and I can't afford to move closer to work, as property is horrendously priced there. Besides, the company doesn't deserve the sacrifice of relocating away from my home town - I'm not that committed to it, like most of my fellow employees.

I own a boutique. Also design and pattern cut our own range. Self employed for over 20 years (whilst bringing up kids)...would love to re-train and do a BSc in nutrition and get a "proper job" with sicky pay, pension and holiday pay.......I see a gap in the market...all my customers are getting bigger!..had to resize all the stock last year.

  • I work for collections for a high street bank!

I am lovely though, not a nasty collector. Honest! I get told at least once a week by my team leaders that I am too nice. But the opposite of nice is horrible...

I like my job though cos I help lots of people. I direct them to the CCCS & the such. I'd direct them here but if I was being call monitored, I'd get sacked...

The job is school hours & 10 mins walk away from me so very convenient.
