Yesterday I cleaned through most of the house (here ends part 1 of my flying report) before taking the train into the big city to meet DGS1+2, aged 16 and nearly 18, who were coming up from somewhere south of London, taking a semi-circular route round the capital. DGS1 texted me occasionally to update me on their progress. All was going well as far as Clapham Junction, where they discovered that the train to Watford Junction that they were supposed to get was not going to stop at W.Junction (nobody seemed to know why not), so they changed tack and made their way to Euston for the northbound train (which is where their W.Jcn connection would have started from). Here they found chaos, due to a major power failure on the very line they wanted to travel on, with no services expected to be able to run until mid-afternoon, so they got themselves over to Marylebone instead and took the scenic route. All good DoE stuff! They arrived about 2 hours late - starving of course, as they're nearly 6' tall and look like a couple of beanpoles, so food for them was the priority. (I had had coffee and a sandwich whilst waiting for them.)
Re-fuelled and raring to go, the lads decided they still wanted to visit the science museum, even with far less time there than we'd originally counted on, so off we traipsed off. Unfortunately I had somehow twisted my knee earlier, so walking was probably not the best thing to be doing, but I left them to go round the exhibits together and sat in the souvenir shop and conversed with some of the French students that had taken over the place for the afternoon but were now getting bored and spent their final half hour dancing to videos on their phones. The yoof of today! After being thrown out of the museum at closing time, we met up with DH, who'd been mooching around the city centre war games shops, and DD, who'd been doing her 2 days at her new head office and took us to a Lebanese/Syrian restaurant for my Mother's Day treat. She stayed overnight in a hotel so that she could begin work at 8.00 and finish early, and the boys came home with us.
Today has been more quality family time and food. My flying consisted of loading and starting the DW after cooking a fried breakfast for the boys (that was part 2 of the report, I don't have a part 3). DGS2 iced and decorated one of the coffee cakes that I had made on Tuesday evening, to take home with them - if they didn't need it for emergency rations. The lads put the trundle bed away and left everything tidy in the study (they're both Air Cadets, so of course they can fly unaided), we walked Rosie up the lane, then the four of us left Rosie to take care of the house and bark at the postman, and went back into the city centre to meet up with DS1 and DGD2+3 (who live locally to us), with DD joining us a few minutes later after she'd finished work. We spent a very happy couple of hours in a pizza restaurant - my treat for everyone this time. DH and I left everyone else to do a treasure hunt which of course they'd downloaded onto their phones, while we made our way home. There had still been quite a bit of walking involved from and back to the station, so my knee has been complaining mightily. I hope to be able to rest it tomorrow. Apart from my knee trouble and the train delays yesterday, it's been a great couple of days. DD and the lads had a straightforward journey and were back home at 7.15 in time to cook their evening meal, so no-one has starved and the cake survived in one piece until they wanted dessert.
I hope everyone stays well and enjoys the festive weekend, however and whatever you choose to celebrate xxx

i have cleaned kitchen and DR and a rabbit hutch and finished my book which was calling to me…so my breaks involved reading. This means 2 books will be leaving, both read, though there are plenty more

After a slow start i.e. too much lie-in with Kindle, I got to aqua zumba which woke me up.
I then had a fairly frustrating shopping session seeking decent flowers to do for the Easter decs at church. Ended up going to Mr T in 2 different towns, &ldi and peered into a couple of florists. Then home via the garden centre where I agonised over Calla lilies to add to the ones I got online (which were pretty good but I'd only bought 10 in case they were rubbish; they were on the small side but ok). Ended up buying 1 white pot (giving me 5 more flowers), 1 lovely shade of white/blush (6 flowers) and a burgundy (8 flowers) - hopefully the bulbs will come up again next year although it's never in time for Easter.
Bought anniversary card for DB/SIL.
Checked seedlings in the greenhouse.
Picked a load of foliage to condition. I think I've over-cut some of my shrubs and Mr N has certainly over-trimmed the leylandii hedge, so it was a bit of a scrabble to pick enough. Now I know the online place seems reliable, maybe next year I'll order some foliage.
Sorted out containers and Oasis (sorry still using it), put in to soak.
We've now got most of the details for both funerals so sat down with a map to plan how we are going to do it.
I emailed music college to tell them I'd miss the 1st 2 lessons of term as both funerals are 1pm and a minimum of 2-3hrs away, so no chance I'll get back for a 3.30 lesson.
Tomorrow will be mostly flower arranging and cleaning church, will go to the 2pm meditation service in the next village.

So pet beds have been washed and dried. I also had a swish of the main bathroom and decided the loo seat needs replacing - they aren't even 6 years old (its Ideal Standard so not cheap, and am sure these things used to look better for a lot longer).
Continued decorating the living room through Thursday. Ceiling now done with two coats of white. I was hoping the old tin of white we had in the shed would stretch, but no I had to pop out and get another tin. To be honest it was nice to have a rest while driving, especially as I'd been to a gym session early morning. I'm not sure if I'll have enough of the wall paint, but will start tomorrow and see if I need a trip to Bee and Q.
I've set up a food order with MrM to arrive Friday (today), so I can tick that one off the list. Also a couple of bits done in the garden, but need to do more this weekend, maybe Monday (yay for Bank Hols). I now have a rather large tree to plant - couldn't resist buying the other day - whoops but there was £40 off and I do but I do have the perfect spot for it. Its just a largish pot so a biggish hole needed and that's never easy in clay soil.
Once the decorating and gardening are done (are they ever fully done?) I'll be able to do more flying. But I did dust all around the living room before painting, and I'll give the skirting a wipe over tomorrow. I'll probably give it a quick once over with the satin wood too. Can't wait to see it finished, although I'm already thinking new blind, lamp, lampshades, cushions - its that thing where you once you start brightening things up ….

Morning al
DW x 1 then run on a cleaning cycle
WM x 2
TD x 1 - I have washed towels; the forecast isn't good so rather than wait until Sunday or Monday to peg out thought I'd get them out of the way.
Plan on cleaning my bedroom as I strip the bed on Fridays, bathroom and tidying up the lounge when I get up.
Niece wants the two books I have read so they will go on Sunday when we get together for SD's 80th

Morning all,
I have done my usual trick of flying early in the week then going off the boil. Everywhere apart from the living room and spare room have seen the vacuum cleaner and maybe a bit more. DH has just announced that he intends to sand and paint the window ledges in DD’s room this weekend, so I had a lucky escape by not wasting time flying in there. I have been to the allotment a couple of times, and even planted 5 (short) rows of potatoes yesterday. Today I have lost all guag, mainly worrying about DD as her medical situation is not resolved.
Yesterday I made an Italian Easter bread. As my MiL used to make, not the sweetened American versions that come up when you search online for a recipe. I also turned out a lemon and rosemary cake, decorated with a pack of mini eggs that needed to be used from the store cupboard. Obviously that was the prime reason for making the cake, not that I am actually a greedy cake monster 🤭. I am currently stomping around the house trying to break in new walking shoes for an upcoming holiday, which may or may not go ahead, depending on how DD is. Mr M delivered the shopping yesterday, fish is defrosting for tea. It’s a very strange Easter with DD being away and nothing planned.

Yesterday was pretty much a wipe out.
Started with brekky followed by a soak in the bath. I then remembered I hadn’t taken my meds the night before to stave off the migraines so took it then. Big mistake! I folded the clothes and put away from the basket and then the load from the TD then that was it I was wiped out. I sat on the sofa to read but found I was falling asleep then waking up again. I did nothing all afternoon and only managed to cook dinner and clear away the kitchen. I now know why I have to take it at night! Lesson learned and so far it does seem to be working although I have noticed a couple times I get hypotension when I stand up too quickly so just need to keep an eye on bp.
I will fly today and I need to sort some bits that came from dads that need to go to a charity shop with the bags of clothes that are still in the car from when they wouldn’t take them a couple of weeks ago.Mortgage, paid off!9 -
Afternoon all
Windows been opened, albeit briefly; exercises done; bed aired & remade.
Been for a quick walk, which might have led to procurement of some nice HCBs (since eaten) from local baker.
Flying for the rest of today will be 'just' DW, S&S kitchen & bathroom, FUPA. I might empty & deal with a couple of small boxes of gibble.

I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone is having a lovely Friday.

I decluttered and tidied the front room - mustn't forget I need to water the plants
Bathroom had a really good clean - every wall had to be wiped down courtesy of DD who took a 45 minute shower !!! Its not a small bathroom (12' x 9') but she managed to get the walls running with condensation so I had to wipe them all down, open the window and wipe down every wet surface there was. I still have a couple of bits to put back beside the cupboards in the alcove but wanted to make sure there was no damp left before I put them away. Bathroom plants were watered.
1 x WM/TD with towels and facecloths that have now been folded and put away.
Fish & Chip takeaway for tea tonight with white wine which is all cleared away and DW loaded. Kitchen given a S/S.
Spends updated on MoneyPoint on the computer (which has been a godsend for budgeting).
The mini beach hut boxes that mum had have been scrubbed and are ready in a bag in the back of the car for the charity shop. I would have kept them but the bedroom that was seaside themed has been taken over by DH and is an absolute bearpit of junk he has decided must be kept.
The 5 pencil cases of mums pens have now been sorted and out of about 70 pens we have about 12 that work (strangely enough mostly Parkers) the rest have been flung. Dining room is looking better with those bits out of the way.
With the extra accounts I opened this week to move money around I think I need to start a folder for 'When I'm not here' with account names and numbers, passwords and emails accounts etc as well as all the household stuff, although TBF most of that is in DH's name.
I am sure I have done more as that doesn't seem like a lot but hey ho, not doing any more now.
