I plug my car in at 5pm and let Octopus do its thing until I unplug it at 8am. I get the occasional charging slot at say 10pm charged at peak rate instead of cheap rate but if I email Octopus about it, they usually look at their data and refund me.

I think I got back about £4.60 last time I logged it so more annoying rather than a massive issue.

For balance, I've been on IOG almost since it first started and I've still not had a single incorrectly charge HH period. (Zappi / car integration at different times).

thanks @chrisw - this is what I was wondering about but I wasn’t sure how octopus would respond as it’s a beta tariff. Feeling more confident about it now thank you

… don't worry about the 'beta', for example, Agile has been going for years and is still 'beta' :)

    @QrizB

Always have it set ready by 5.30am and unplugged around 9.15am. was set to add 30% charge and the 11.30 to 5.30 should be more than enough time to do this. Even so, charging outside the low rate should only be done at the low price as you, others & 🐙have said.

I don’t think we have any routines set up on the OHME app. But will double check after work thanks

I'm guessing, then, that the problematic half hour was Ohme starting the following day's 30% session early (presumably because 0830-0900 on Monday was seen as a green / cheap slot).

Still doesn't explain why you were charged the day rate, when Ohme thinks it was a smart charge.

Not quoting this post, just replying to you.

Do you have any times set in the car?

My cars are simply plugged in when a charge is needed, so if overnight charge when car is no longer required. Neither are linked to OHME app, so OHME can not see SOC in car. I simply tell OHME I want X% added to car (manually work it out if I want 100% charge) & a ready by time between 04:00 & 11:00 as OHME requires.

Any pre heating of car set in OHME app is charged at peak rate, if outside off peak times. (OHME app tells you)

I take it that you are picking up the price difference from the actual bill?

This is a shot of our Octopus bill & car plugged in & Octopus controlling charge, as you can see it shifts from 6.67p to 26.55p, this is because car was charging, then not charging. Plugged in around lunchtime with a ready by 08:00 time next morning. Car not unplugged till well after that time.

In Octopus acc under charge history Smart Charge Session duration:21hr 53min / Energy added:48.62kWh

OHME app for same charge shows. 6 hours 59 mins in sessions. 47.1 kWh.

As far as OHME app goes in sessions, this was one long charge. Only before disconnecting the car did OHME app actually show the active charging slots given. So there is no way going back via OHME sessions to see the exact periods the car was charging.🤷‍♀️

I just think you have miss read the charging sessions & like above Octopus has just added a few cheap slots. Which can not be reconciled against OHME app once car is disconnected.

    thanks @born_again

We have an octopus mini hub that shows the same power usage during the same time slot on the OHME app which is also the same on the Octopus bill.

    All 3 correlate.

    Here's an example of mine:

They said it can happen if an error occurs whilst sending a schedule over to the Ohme.
