    @MattMattMattUK

EV was charging during that period. We have confirmed that on the app which shows the EV charged at that time.

During that time frame our household is running at a low background rate which is covered by our solar battery. That high rate usage is definitely from EV charging.

    Car is a Kia EV6

The charger is OHME and 🐙 installed it. Just the charger is linked to 🐙

We charge the EV 2-3 times a week. Weekly mileage varies but no we are not driving 80 miles a day generally speaking.

English has been my 1st language all my life. Perhaps it would be better to say that I don’t know all the jargon? But I’d prefer not to get wrapped up in semantics.

I cannot see anywhere it says that the EV has to be plugged in all the time for IOG. Also we do have a life - regularly out of an evening.

we are just trying to use energy responsibly. And to my mind avoiding peak times seems to be the right thing to do.

That's fair enough, your writing style has ESL characteristics that is all so I wanted to check nothing was getting lost on translation.

Nothing says it has to be plugged in all the time, but the point is plug in when not going anywhere for the rest of the day and leave it to do it's thing, get home at whatever time and plug it in, do not leave it until 23:30 before plugging in.

Off peak is not just a time slot on a green sense, it is also when there is excess wind or solar generation, IOG will use that energy to charge your car when it is plugged in regardless of the time of day, but you will always be charged the charging rate during that period. By forcing it to only be able to charge 23:30-05:30 you are making your usage less green.

It is also worth double checking the car does not have any errant charging schedule set, e.g. be at X% by 08:30.

Since my understanding of IOG is virtually zero, I just wonder perhaps could your PV battery/inverter be using the grid e.g. to return its charge to 20% or whatever? Just a thought really

If it's the charger that's linked to IOG, not the car, then only the charger can start a charge session. There will be no AC power to the car at other times, so the car won't be able to start changing independently.

OP has said the 0830-0900 session was requested by the charger and is visible in the Ohme app as being part of a smart charge.

@SuzeQStan would you be able to share the matching Ohme app screenshot, so we have the full picture of what's going on?

    Sorry, two more questions!

In the screen you've shotted, if you change it from kWh to £ does Ohme think that all those slots were charged at the cheaper rate?

And if you click on the "view sessions" button, was the 0830-0900 slot being shown as part of the preceding overnight session?

Don't feel obliged to share more screenshots unless they reveal something interesting 🙂

That second one is interesting, thanks for sharing.

The 0830-0900 slot was a separate charge session, shown as 0837-0916 in the Ohme app. It's not part of the previous overnight charge.

    Curious.

On that morning, do you recall what "ready by" time you set for your Sunday-into-Monday charge session? And what time you actually unplugged your car (or if you did)?

And do you have a default routine saved in the Ohme app?

I'm wondering exactly why Ohme scheduled that charging slot, and why it wasn't recognised by Octopus.
